  • We use those for work and I'm happy in general, but why the fuck must they "innovate" by swapping Ctrl and Fn???

It's such a shitty design choice that messes my workflow every time I go from dock with a normal keyboard to using the laptop alone.

  • Yeah same.
I only use it to follow r/ukraine, and I don't comment or vote.

Lemmy is not perfect but it scratches my itch to see what random strangers think about random topics so I don't really miss it.

  • Our currency has taken a bit of a hit since covid, so I guess it's more like $20 today.
210 NOK when I checked my local price for Dune 2 just now.

Add in some snacks and we're way over $30, so hopefully my point still stands.

  • Oh I agree with you wholeheartedly friend!
They don't care because people keep buying their shit anyways, which is why many of us tell you to stop buying it and then we've gone full circle again.

I'm not recommending complaining to them because I think they will care. I do it because I it could have a greater impact than complaining here which has exactly zero impact.

  • It's not that you can't complain, but moreso that people are tired of reading about people getting ripped of over and over again.
It's getting old when the solution is so glaringly obvious.

Alternatively focus your grievances towards the company. That has a better chance of making an impact in reducing the tainted waters.

So in short: you have a right to complain, but we have a right to tell you that you are a part of the problem if you pre-order or support companies continually doing this crap.

  • I don’t really think so.

If you adjust for inflation, historically, it’s very cheap.
If you compare it to movie tickets, which in essence is 2-3 hours of entertainment for $25, it’s the same story.
Some games can give you hundreds of hours for close to the same price.

This excludes games with monthly fees or predatory in-game systems.

  • If only there had been a game that you had played thousands of hours on and had high hopes for the sequel.

He's not arguing against hoping for a better sequel. He's telling people to stop pre-ordering games without knowing how good the game is going to be.

Also, you waited a decade to play a game you wanted to play? That’s a you problem.

Read his reply again. He waited 10 years for it to release and get reviewed before making an informed purchasing decision. He made a smart move.

  • I think you're mixing up Gaza and the west bank.

The west bank is ran by Fatah, part of PLO and Arafat's political party. Hamas runs the Gaza strip.

If Texas would be like that I guess it would be full of foreign permanent setlers. A bit counter productive

  • Really, never?
AFAIK Minnesota does get proper winter cold, so it's just a bit surprising.

I've had both petrol and diesel cars not start on me when it's cold enough.
Diesel probably didn't want to go because of old glow plugs and on the petrol I had somehow managed to get a bit of water in the tank that froze in the line.

  • Yes it does. You car (almost all EVs) slowly precondition the battery while driving. Many newer cars optimize the battery temperature when you add a charger to your navigation to have the optimal temperature once you reach it. If you know you need to rapid charge and the drive is short, it's usually a good idea to add it to your navigation as the car will then maximize the heating/cooling before you get there, whereas with normal driving it would do this slowly to minimize drain.

I had to rapid charge with a frozen battery once. Not a fun experience.

  • This is just plain wrong.
We have two EV's in Norway (cold as fuck at times) and there is no way to manage the same range in winter as in summer.
Sure you can mitigate some of it by preheating both the cabin and the battery, but the heater working harder to maintain the temperature when it's cold outside and the added friction of driving on snow is always going to be there
