I’ve unknowingly used a counterfeit at a grocery store, too after being paid one day some years ago. It was at a self checkout and I was lucky to have alternate payment methods but it absolutely can happen to anyone and doesn’t even mean intent or awareness.
Running off of their own logic here - tech bros and bullshit jobs were largely not a thing in Bible times, so we should abandon AI and Facebook.
Finanacial fuckery was heavily frowned upon by their main guy, to the point he flipped tables over it. Let’s eliminate all debt interest too, since that’s usury and a sin.
Rich people are going to hell, so let’s redistribute wealth and prioritize the poor, the sick, women and children. Y’know, to give the billionaires a chance at heaven.
They’re also pretty strictly told to stay tf out of government as well, since it’s not their world to inhabit and their inheritance is in the next life. So no theocracy, because that goes against their teachings. Stay within your churches and be relentlessly kind to your neighbors. Anyone who claims to be a “God-fearing, Bible following” Christian should step down from politics immediately.
I’m surprised dabbling with the Mac creative suites hasn’t been suggested yet. It’s the main reason a lot of users go for the OS over Windows or Linux.
Oh thank hell it’s not just me. Every so often I retry the man command only to get frustrated having to flip through six walls of text via keyboard for something a 20 second Internet search would have easily refreshed my memory on.
Thank you this sums up pretty accurately how I’ve felt lately too.
Like, we’re effectively a collection of pseudo-countries loosely tied together by a federal delegation spread across a contiguous landmass roughly a third the size of the continent of Asia. Our cross-border infrastructure is a joke, worker protections are nonexistent and to drive several hours/days to the nation’s capitol to protest (which we’re being told does and doesn’t work??) is a level of cost many literally cannot afford.
In a lot of states we do see grassroots efforts to fight back and improve. That is a better comparison to smaller European countries that have won in fighting against government corruptions, imo. Even Texas recently had a small wave of progressive wins in local races.
Unfortunately I think a lot of outsiders see “you have guns there!” and as such want us to start an all-out bloodbath. I don’t think it’s wrong for the average citizen to not want to die unnecessarily, and/or only use arms for literal self defense rather than reckless political violence. (inb4 “bUt Ur gubbermint is aLrEadY violent!1! DoN’t WaIt!2!” yeah no duh, see “literal self defense”)
A good chunk of the 20th and 21st century European revolutions people point to when we ask were largely nonviolent. That’s what we’ve been trying too. Not unarmed, but nonviolent (also corporate property damage doesn’t count as violence).
Malcolm X, the Black Panthers and of course MLK are solid figurehead examples of American protest that led to some level of success. Protesters during the AIDs crisis too. But it took them years. We’re trying.
Why the hell can you even make an appointment to a public service not registered to a specific person?
You need to go to the DMV to acquire legal ID, usually. Plus SSN isn’t exactly..secure so can be easily brute forced.
And why the hell can you make more than 1 appointment?
You do know multiple people can live in a household, right? And/or multiple people can use the same computer? Like at libraries?
I agree that the US desperately needs infrastructure upgrades (including with the education system that’s actively being torn apart), but to blame the basic services we do have for being abused by shitty people, when it’s largely the fault of intentional underfunding and gerrymandering isn’t productive.
Maybe you’re a troll, and you’re likely not USian so it’s not something you need to care about, but I hope anyway you can find a moment to deep breathe and have a good rest of your day. /gen
