Dunno what type of tablet you’ve got but Apple News is pretty solidly loaded with medical fear mongering that’s sanewashed via being from interviews with “experts.”
Buzzfeed, Newsweek, HuffPost, etc. are your main name-brand culprits. Other magazines/websites also push this garbage but it’s a little more obvious.
Other key words across social media would probably be “nutritionist,” “coach,” “guru,” and other catchy terms that basically mean unlicensed. I’ve never used TikTok but when I was on Instagram years ago those were the biggest offenders.
Post-latest-US-election, when the feeds got somehow even worse and more doom-scrolly than before even on my curated lists. This was still before people were getting banned for upvoting comments.
Someone posted open source alternatives and while I was never big into Mastodon or other social substitutes I found Lemmy as a parallel to Reddit and eventually made the jump. Haven’t looked back since and am far mentally better off for it 😄 /genuine
I was dressed accordingly, always had like 3+ layers not counting negative temperature rated down coat, boots, scarf, gloves etc it just still sucked that it was cold and icy lol.
I couldn’t tell you much beyond this since it was boring and I don’t remember but: “God is dead” was not emo edgy bullshit but rather an observation that society as a whole was growing more secular, to way over-generalize the context.
If it’s any perverse consolation people believed those stupid fucking conspiracies long before the internet shoved their idiocy in our faces.
I grew up in a household with those conspiracies, including but not limited to Illuminati, wrist chips, and other flavors of end-of-times insanity. Grown adults spewing that straight faced made me lose my trust in them.
I also grew up playing the game and understood it was fully fabrication, but also a commentary just like every other science fiction work.
It is a common myth in the United States that DST was first implemented for the benefit of farmers.[38][39][40] In reality, farmers have been one of the strongest lobbying groups against DST since it was first implemented.[38][39][40] The factors that influence farming schedules, such as morning dew and dairy cattle's readiness to be milked, are ultimately dictated by the sun, so the clock change introduces unnecessary challenges.[38][40][41]
TL:DR for the rest of the history and rationale: Most of this was rich people wanting more time for their personal hobbies, other people’s sleep and health be damned.
This might sound nuts but, programmable/shifting tattoos.
Like, it could detect elevated levels of cortisol in your blood or increased heart rate and then just gently pulse or warm up to a comforting temperature as a way calm you down or remind you to breathe. Or light up like a custom RGB keyboard, or change colors/holographic effects depending on time of day. Anything really.
Any day with a Ruby post is a good day 🖤 hello screaming shadow baby!
