  • I recently did, and it's the best thing ever! I should have done this ages ago. I went with Fedora plasma on my old laptop! ❤️ I can see how basically any distro is going to be fantastic coming from either of the other choices tho

  • No way? So in general this isn't even going to help most waiters and waitresses, it's just going to encourage more companies to ask for tips that are split with the company before they even get to the employee already with these tap apps. And even better reason to ask the employees at the shop if they actually get the tips before you click the button

  • Nobody wants to be on the side of someone who acts like this my guy. It doesn't even matter if you were making a valid point, it's just off-putting and ineffective. This is the kind of behavior that dis-invites people and pushes them toward identity politics

  • I'm prepared to give that empathy while also, now, recognizing in my life that these are toxic people and their political stances are harming other innocent people, and all of us as a country. Personally I'm holding even my closest loved ones at a distance until they develop empathy themselves. An ignorant villain is still a villain

  • You didn't even read what he said correctly man. I get class solidarity, but when someone uses their platform to speak truth to power and encourage systemic improvement it's not useful to bitch and bicker like this. It's a good thing, we should take it as a good thing and use that momentum. Not devolve into the infighting that makes our side so ineffective because we are all trying to be better people, and help each other be better. That makes us morally superior, but also makes it difficult to operate as an effective unit and play like a team, like the right does. They hate and they unify, they don't divide themselves like this over everything they can find. The fact that we do hold all of ourselves to a higher standard is a good thing, but we need to snap out of it before we let them win the country forever based on our lack of unity. Don't let perfection be the enemy of the good, especially in this historical moment

  • I love how these morons are so brainwashed they are willing to give up their credit scores and their 401ks just because that orange piece of shit told them to. All the sudden the economy doesn't actually matter at all, or every layman knows better than the majority of economists

  • This is one of the biggest problems going on right now. That people don't have a knowledge of their own morality, not in any tangible, processed way. People resort to following a person who they believe has the morality they seek, but their own decisions are actually based on a combo of feelings and whatever dogma they may have with no real analysis or improvement being done with any consistency. It would fix a hell of a lot of problems if your average person was breaking down the implications of their own morality and developing a defensible philosophical position. For most I observe that is farther than the average person is willing to parse. It seems that this has led many to base essentially their entire philosophy of right vs wrong (as far as they can actually explain it without just saying "God") on a series of impactful sounding, but ultimately hollow, sound bites or snappy retorts that don't have any actual substance.

  • This is my takeaway post trump: I'm absolutely done attempting to help conservatives grow up or develop empathy or self-awareness, easier to do that with children, and it will make more difference. Arguing with them or engaging in this fake debate bullshit they love is worse than pointless, it's trolling. If you make a good point they will edit the video to make you look foolish, they will absorb zero moral lessons, they will process zero of your actual arguments, worse, they have zero moral hangups pursuant to their ends, so they will resort to tactics reasonable adults wouldn't even consider. I will never have another serious, invested political conversation with someone who voted Chump in my lifetime, I just, sadly, don't take them seriously anymore, much like the POS himself. I really, really tried to see if I could put even a little sense in my closest circle of trump voters after November, at great emotional and interpersonal expense, and, more than ineffective, it actually brought me a substantial amount of resentment for people I still love, and once held a great deal of respect for.
