Answering the title: one thing can't be denied, and it's that production quality has been in a steady decrease from the 80s onwards. If you can look past that, there are some current really good music groups.
Now onto the body of the message: I am a big prog rock fan, but I can't stand Pink Floyd. My dad can't either, we never ever spoke about that but found ourselves agreeing on it when I turned 20. It seems like there is a large gap in quality to the likes of Alan Parsons, ELO, Genesis, Yes and whatnot.
We're having our particular technological revolutions as well. In little more than a century we've managed to construct computing devices with capabilities that may have taken thousands of years to be achieved by nature.

That looks good, but I've not seen much about replacing the screen with one ready for using a Stylus and taking notes at class, do they not sell those? I don't want to be using a tablet plus a laptop for the rest of my life!
I think this is super inefficient if you happen to have more than maybe three tabs open. How long will it take me to reach to the file explorer I've also opened? Moreover, how long will it take me to find it...?
