It might be against YT ToS but he could have shorter versions on YT and say the full version is on PeerTube. Biggest issue rn is probably advertising. Most people wouldn't think to look on PeerTube, if they know it exists, so nobody wants to post to PeerTube. The Reddit API fiasco was a boon to Lemmy so this could be as well, but steps need to be taken while outrage is fresh.

And probably the state wants to have some leverage over businesses that hire undocumented immigrants. They'll look the other way in exchange for political support.

Musk needs to put his money where his mouth is, otherwise this is just a long-con IMO.

Any fraud they uncovered was likely run-of-the-mill stuff that would've been found even without DOGE, probably with less overhead than DOGE as well. Thinking some 20yo without even a college degree will come in and immediately spot fraud is laughable.

As for waste, Musk thinks anything that doesn't directly contribute to "the product" is waste. I wouldn't be surprised if one of his factories had outhouses and water troughs to save on plumbing.

The company claims that your images won't be used for any other purpose or shared with third parties without your consent.

Thousands of pictures of regular people's faces, not just professional models, is valuable data. They're definitely selling that shit or using it for their own AI training.

I do have concerns about this but it's really all about the usage, not the AI itself. Would the AI version be the only version allowed? Would the summaries get created on the fly for every visitor? Would edits to an AI summary be allowed? Would this get applied to and alter existing summaries?

I'm totally fine with LLMs and AI as a stop-gap for missing info or a way to coach or critique a human-written summary, but generally I haven't seen good results when AI is allowed to do its thing without a human reviewing or guiding the outputs.

Maybe it's a result of Wikipedia trying to be more of an "online encyclopedia" vs a digital information hub or learning resource. I don't think it's a problem on its own but I do think there should be a simplified version of every article.

Was making a dig at Tesla. Ford is a real automotive company and it did what it was supposed to do.

For me it really depends on the use-case. A lot of times I want persistence but don't really care to access the data outside of the container. So rather than using the extra brainpower to make up folders myself and ensure paths don't change I just let Docker handle those details for me. Also I use Podman a fair amount and it seems to be more troublesome when it comes to bind mounts.

Unless they get a string of conservative judges I don't see how this would go in ICEs favor. He was clearly a US citizen and they never even hinted he wasn't, but they grabbed him and took him into custody anyway. If he was trespassing that's the local police's duty.
