In the time period I'm referring to, either the person making the pie, or the person taking the pie were usually of a very... Let's just say "dark" complexion with extremely exaggerated features. I'm not saying the posted meme is racist at all, just that TV and movies way back then were.

An example:

When flipped around, the person that baked the pie was usually depicted in the mammy stereotype.

It feels like it's open to manipulation. Resurrecting something decades old that the public forgot about, from a different environment. Typically when new legislation is announced, the process allows enough time for public input and objection. This could just be a single vote without much warning.

Back when I was a child, if you saw this scene, there was a 95% that what happened next was going to be racist as hell.
