The court ordered a new trial when it overturned the conviction. The DA can decide not to do a new trial if they want. Overturning a conviction is not necessarily the same as finding someone innocent.

Did you consider rehomng that puppy to a home with no cows? How is your first instinct to a dog living in a situation its unsuited to, "pull out a shot gun and blast it. Twice". Putting the dog down should really be a last resort.

And those millionaires typically won some sort of fame "lottery" (which has its own issues) like Pop Stars or something.

I went to a school that is one multi story building. It's not a big school though which may be why. Highly populated area probably don't see things like that anymore .

You're staying at much nicer hotels than I am. In my experience they don't fully stock anything in the room anywhere.

DnD is definitely one of those hobbies where each table is different and (as long as no one is being hurt) none of them are wrong. The toxicity some people bring to the table can scare away newer people entirely and that sucks for everyone. Less DnD people means we all get to play less DnD.

If you want to read about the time period you'll be annoyed by the murder mystery shoehorned into your dry long winded historical fiction. If you wanted a murder mystery set in a historical setting then you'll be annoyed by the history lesson being shoved down your throat like a dehydrated fig newton.

Isn't it true that a lot of stock dips down after an initial IPO high? Even if the company is solid? I'm not sure this isn't typical or even expected behavior for even well run companies.

I have never had to ask someone for help with my laptop even after an update. As far as I can tell my PC isnt slow and Ive never noticed spam. I just don't use/push my laptop enough for that to have ever been a problem.

That said, if someone installed Linux for me and set it up? I'd use Linux. The operating system really doesn't impact my use of the laptop. The point I've been trying to make, and that seems to be largely being lost on the angry Linux bros on lemmy, is that using Linux isn't the barrier and most people would use Linux- if it came pre-installed. Installation is the barrier, not use. If you put it on family/friends computers they'll probably use it just fine. They just aren't gonna bother learning to install it themselves.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. Why would I? If it came on laptops out of the box? I'd use it. But as someone whose job description lists excel as "a plus, not required" Why would I have installed Linux in the past 10 years?

I buy a new laptop and I open it. It's running windows as soon as I turn it on. How is that easier than having to go find something to install? If I turned on a brand new laptop and it was running Linux then I'd just use Linux. I wouldn't bother going to find windows to download it either.

I feel like this gets so close to understanding why non-technical people don't use Linux. I had a class once in college I had to use Linux for so I have used it. It wouldn't be hard at all to use Linux for what I use my computer for everyday. So if my laptop come with Linux or someone else installed Linux on it I'd be fine. I might not even notice right away honestly.

The barrier isn't using Linux, the barrier is installing Linux in the first place. Windows also works fine for the random low level stuff I use my laptop to do, so why would I go out of my way to install Linux when it would improve my life 0% and be a huge boring hassle for me?

Thats not totally true. The import thing about a Roth is that the earnings grow tax free. That's great even if you're withdrawing less in retirement as long as there was growth in your Roth between when you contributed and when you start withdrawing. If you plan to withdraw your Roth in the next couple of years then yeah probably not worth as much, if you have a couple decades before you plan to retire? That may be a different story.

It's a typo of coming. As in the word "come" or "to arrive".

I second the Roth, there is a much lower yearly cap (around $7k). But you've already paid the taxes on it and can withdraw it tax free down the line!

Also as someone subscribed to both, the games are way cheaper. So it makes sense that more people can afford a continuous gaming subscription through them.

Just recently learned CFOP from someone (still really slow at it) and it's a great fidget. I use it during a few of my more droning zoom meetings and it makes me feel like I'm doing something semi productive while I fidget.
