  • I had a Livejournal for years and blogged all the stuff that happened to me, especially the terrible relationship stuff. I wish it was still a thing. It helped so much to have it all written down, and now when he's gaslighting me I can read back and know that I'm not making it up.

  • Haven't spoken to my BPD mom and enabler dad and golden child brother in 13 years. It's sad. But honestly it dumped so much off of me to stop drinking her poison.

If you have BPD get help now before you get to an age where your behaviors are something you have no insight into. Listen to people who tell you that you need help.

  • Before the rise of shitty corporate social media, we had Livejournal which was a private blogging platform, you could have your posts set friends only or public, and let me tell you writing shit out and having people comment on it, whether they validated you or pointed out a flaw in how you thought, was so much more useful than therapy.

  • And he doesn't have the personality for that. Trump has his bizarre hold over people that they think is charm but is real narcissistic manipulation, and he's outspoken which people find appealing, but PP has none of that and is just a faceless interchangeable conservative.

  • A doctor I worked with in the last few years had moved back from the US to Canada in 2022. He is Canadian by birth but had exclusively worked in the US and I guess wanted to get out of there politically. Well, he didn't like how health care ran here at all, said OHIP was stingy, thought we did everything wrong and complained all the time, his wife HATED Canada, so last fall he got a job back in the US, and told us November 1st. The day after the election I asked him where he was going, and he told me the state, but said he didn't know anymore after the election if it was a good idea. But his family had already moved there and he had signed a contract so off he went.

I think criticizing the Ontario government for how they handle health care is totally valid, and I understand the money is much better down there, but honestly to stay out of fascism, not have to chase payments across multiple insurance companies and from patients, the death of Medicaid and Obamacare, and very potentially at this point have your funding for your program killed off altogether under Trump, well why would you choose that? I do understand living in a country that isn't your way of life is also hard, but the institutions of the US are being dismantled by the Trump government rapidly.

Honestly the simplicity of just billing one place seems much more appealing than more money, and denying care to patients for lack of coverage seems terrible. I don't know why anyone would want to work under such a system. We're vastly less than perfect, but that seems like a total headache. But whatever. Learn the hard way I guess.

  • The federal conservatives really don't do themselves a lot of favours with that cringe commercial. Also PP taking a page out of the Harper playbook and only answering two questions is what's going to sink him. You know why people like Doug Ford despite how horrible everything he's done is? He's very accessible and communicative and answers questions. No I don't like DoFo, but PP is just making himself less appealing by the day by not talking to people.

  • My aunt called to tell me that a long time family friend who has ALWAYS voted conservative every time for his 70+ years living in Canada, and is usually very loud about it and watches Fox News every day, has voted for Carney instead. I am not sure why, but I think even Canadian conservatives are not very keen on the idea that we might turn into anything like what the US is going through, and that PP is the pathway to that. I early voted last Friday and the polling station was packed, and I think the fear of Trump is a great motivator.
