I'm always shocked when I talk to a woman who doesn't vote in particular. Like your ancestors had to fight for that right very hard, why wouldn't you exercise it?

My personal belief is that the reason Trudeau resigned is because the Liberal Party got a political consultant to determine what would get the party to a win, and determined that the party needed a more traditional business focused leader to get the win, and that they needed to pick someone with a good image overall. I think where the conservatives failed is picking a pretty faceless generic conservative who is not very accessible and does the old Harper trick of two questions only, and doesn't even seem to like anything or anybody in Canada very much, and there was no love in particular for the leader, just the Fuck Trudeau crowd banging their endless gong. I think the trouble they have as a party is that none of their members in particular have an appealing personality that connects with people at all, or reflects traditional Canadian values or make anything in the country better, they just gripe about what the Liberals do and try to block it. I do not think many people connect with the empty suits that their party consists of, just angry, stupid or old people who want things to go back in time vote for them, or greedy rich people hoarding wealth.

Unless they get a personable candidate and stay away from social issues like abortion, LGBT issues and the golden calf of health care, they'll never go anywhere. A tide of ignorance is not going to sway undecided voters, and I think if Canadians have their values threatened we retreat to the safety of the Liberals. I don't think they have anyone like that in their party at all who could lead, and I don't think they're savvy enough to attract someone like that.

He lost! To a first time candidate we know almost nothing about LOL. I hope PP is having the vapours.

I held my nose and did it too. I am the leftiest lefty that ever lefted but the NDP was not really an option this time.

We also need a better NDP leader. I like Jagmeet but he has not succeeded at this.

I recall in 2015 that when Atlantic Canada went solid red that was enough to show that the Liberals won entirely and the rest was just waiting the night out.

I think that the conservatives after losing are going to have to reflect on their image. Nobody connects with a talking head in a blue suit who doesn't seem to like anything about Canada or exist as a person which PP does, and that's why Harper is barely a memory as well. I am not wild for Trudeau but at least he had a personality and some fire to him. I loathe Doug Ford but people find him relatable, and that's his background in municipal politics I think. Mulroney had a personality. PP is just a TV screen full of fuzz personality wise.

Maggie Haberman of the New York Times once said that the way Trump can go into a room and charm everyone in it is strangely genius. That's why he wins, people who don't feel a connection to conventional politicians feel like there's finally someone like them they can connect with. Of course he's a narcissist and a lunatic and manipulating them all, but that's what's missing in all conventional conservative politicians in Canada, they're almost interchangeable, forgettable, and if they threaten the institutions of our country we value, we will drop them no matter how much we didn't like Trudeau, hold our noses and vote for a centrist senior banker white dude to preserve them, even when we don't care for him all that much either.

Jeez I wish the NDP would get it together. My kingdom for Jack Layton to have lived and governed.

When I went to vote on Good Friday the lines were very long and the poll workers were all very busy. This is why people hate conservatives, because you don't value other people at all.

An old family friend who is a staunch and loud and obnoxious conservative who only consumes right wing propaganda and has always voted for the conservative parties for his almost 80 years, has shocked me to my core by voting for Carney. Says he's the right man for the job. This is an absolute sea change for this man. I think a lot of people really hate that little weasel PP and don't stomach fascism in our country.

Those kids have never seen any medical care providers of any sort. They let the boy get an almost 107 degree fever one time, and he's obviously autistic so it must have been extra miserable for him. No vaccines, no dentists, no school, etc etc.

Found some really nuts messianic Christian family on Facebook, and the mom just gives birth on the back of the skoolie they live in without any medical care, thankfully they only have one son but the father circumcised him with a razor by himself on the bus, and mom thinks that is a swell idea and wrote up a manual about it for her website. They drive around putting up religious signs and begging donations off their fellow believers to live on, and I want to call CPS so badly but I don't know how to find them. It's SO much worse than that too.

A student who was a year older than me became a trans performance artist who became quite famous! She had a flirtation with Tommy Lee for a while before he realized she was trans. She does a great deal of theater work and is very talented.

My person is a well brought up Italian Catholic girl I was friends with, and when I looked her up she was wanted by the RCMP for embezzling millions out of an investment fund with her husband and then fled the country for years. She came back after they split and pleaded guilty and did four years in federal prison. This was a nice girl and this is super shocking.
