  • Back in the 90s the focus was to be colorblind, ie to treat everyone the same. Now people are focusing on race again in a big way. It boggles my mind that people now think treating people differently based on race is somehow a good thing. That people should get preferential hiring based on race is probably the biggest WTF.

  • Things to try:

    • Update your BIOS, this will likely solve the issue since things are working fine with your prior CPU.
    • If you are running an XMP/EXPO profile, turn it off, as it might be making your system unstable.
    • Memtest. Run it for at least a full cycle (which takes about an hour). If you see more than a single error, then there is something wrong with your RAM.

  • The part that annoys me the most, is people will doom about huge swaths of humanity dying in the future due to climate change, then bemoan and rage against building nuclear plants today, thus solving solving a huge portion of the issue.

    I just do not understand people's priorities, or if they really believe everything they say.

  • Yep, compression can do wonders. Let's say a piece of data is 1010110010110101 repeating 10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10^10 times in a row. (No I didn't screw up my notation there, that is just a massive number)

    You cannot fit that piece of data on a hard drive uncompressed, yet I just communicated it to you in a compressed format and you can view the data accurately at any position.

    I'm assuming you are actively looking for a job in a field relevant to your degree? If not, that is your life until you find one; some branching out may be required if your particular field isn't in demand.

    I’m being offered to take a sysadmin certification for this particular distribution I know absolutely nothing about...The exam is free, but I must pass it, or else I must pay for it and then take it again.

    Unless this certification is specifically listed as a requirement for a job your are applying to, don't do the certification. They are normally expensive and not that helpful.
