  • Want deeper discussion? I'm reading "being no one" by Thomas Metzinger. In simplistic terms, it's a scientific book about how you aren't a self, but a constantly running process. I'm very down to discuss it.

Of course, people aren't using Lemmy for that level of discussion generally. They're using it to entertain themselves while shitting, or they're urgently trying to push agendas. That's the internet these days. People geeking on specific subjects into granular detail is on life support in tiny communities.

  • I love the people in here standing up for him lol. An absolute fuckton of people die every day. Basically every moment has human death in it. No one defending him cares a single wit about them, but they'll get wound up over this old man dying of something many many people die of daily.

Considering everything that's come out about the royal family, I can't find a single care in me for him. I feel more for the countless faceless strangers dying worse deaths. This old pampered fuck will die well in comparison. He doesn't need any sympathy from me.

  • I've been ten years disabled to the point that I don't have a job. My life has been more fulfilling in that decade than it ever was in my able bodied, over worked previous life.

I take care of my household, I volunteer where I'm able to, I seek out new topics to learn just out of curiosity, and I have a heap of different hobbies I bounce between. Sure, I get bored sometimes, but it's a much cleaner boredom than the kind I got at work.

No way I'm the only one who can very much enjoy an unemployed life. That article is a bunch of bullshit.

  • If Kurtzman did anything with it, that trek is likely garbage and ignorable. If someone else wrote and directed without Kurtzman sticking his mystery box horseshit in it, I'll give it a shot. Lower decks is great. Strange new worlds is sometimes fantastic, and sometimes very fucking stupid, which brings it in line with trek in general, so I like it.

  • I've been really enjoying Roboquest. It's a solid movement shooter rogue like that really nails flow state. It's got solid style, but the story is just kind of tacked on and can be ignored. You good bot. You kill bad bots. You kill bad bots gooder over time. Do again until bored. Good for genre fans.

Necesse has also been in my rotation. This is a weird one to pin down. Top down terraria / rimworld gets the basic idea across. It looks very newgrounds flash game but has some surprising depth and it gets its claws into you, eating away time. I'm only still in the beginnings, but I'm sure I'll be putting more time into this one.

  • No need. I play a lot of games in that genre, and if I have the urge, I'll dive back into one of them. The game is being pushed very hard for whom it came from. It feels very artificial to me. I'm perfectly happy missing out on what I'm told is the new hot shit. I'll decide what's hot shit on my own.

  • Bg3. It's a fantastic game that I put 100 hours into. I'll never finish it though because I was just done with the well put together gameplay loop. It made me realize I may be done with that genre altogether now. I've put uncountable hours into various crpgs, and I've had my time with them. I finished off with one of the absolute best. Good enough for me.

  • You hit the nail on having an explanation, but it also needs to be an exciting, movie script like explanation. Something where the bit players have outsized roles and are somehow special. The gonzo shit some of these fuckwits come up with astounds me that anyone believes it!

  • Gotta court far right hicks that'll vote for potato brained Trump no matter what anyway. The only thing Haley has going for her is that her failure isnt quite as hard as Desantis.

An entire party of rot brains following Lord rot into hell.

  • I don't think it's totally forgotten, but an old nes game no one talks about called Bump n jump. You play a buggy in a top down style racer; think spy hunter. You're meant to race to the end of levels, crashing into (or avoiding) other vehicles for points. You can jump over bridges and gaps as well, and each level ends with a huge leap of faith ocean jump.

I feel like it was largely forgotten in gaming history, but I loved it when I was a child I put many hours into it.
