  • I live in an area in regional Victoria where you’ll get behind one of these guys for a 5-10km stretch.

And I grew up in regional NSW where it could be more like 15-20km.

If you’re on the asphalt you overtake if you can see it’s safe to do so as usual, or if the operator can clearly gesture to you, unmistakably, with a hand signal that it’s safe to go around.

I’ve never heard of the right turn signal thing.

  • Yes of course. And if they go spend it on a pack of chips or coffee from the 7-11, that might be just what they needed to get through the next few hours.

Only they know what they need right then and there, and I hope we’re past the condescension of people refusing to give money but offering some food item they believe the person would benefit from (because “if I give money they’ll just waste it”).

Sometimes they might want to talk if you can spare some time too, to break the social exclusion they’re feeling.

And they might not be appreciative, or they may have a as bad attitude, that’s the way it goes. They’re dispossessed, they’re looked down on, and they could be sleeping on the side of the road on a rainy night wondering how long they’ve got left. They may have lost families. They may not have it in them to say “thanks mate”.

  • Have mega corporations like Facebook/meta and Twitter/x been held accountable? Because they’ve resulted in kids killing themselves or developing psychological disorders.

What I’m not seeing is the backlash against those.

Fuck our useless government. Incompetent like most. But I’m so sick of the corpos getting a little bit of outrage and then not only do people move on in short order, but they keep using their platform and generating profit for them.

  • “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices,” the petition continues. “It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.”

A music conglomerate like UMG would never do anything to saturate the market. Never.

  • The fact that Sonic is still around, kicking goals, being loved by children everywhere, and making Mario look incompetent; well this makes my childhood smile.

I never would have even dreamed I’d be buying Sonic figures for my children.

  • It does. Not sure your situation, but I have a mortgage and two little girls. It’s a big risk, but I’m betting on myself.

Regardless of the uncertainty about the new year, it’s the first time I’ve felt any sort of positivity for the longest time.

Good luck to all of us.
