I think he'd much rather eliminate one of the top economies and make more room for the Russian economy to recover. I'd imagine the simplified version of the plan goes something like this:

1. Make the US destroy all its current trade relationships
2. In manufactured desperation, the US drops sanctions and tries to lean on Russia as a new partner
3. ?????
4. Profit

I'm not sure there's any situation where trying to appeal to Trump won't end in conceding to Russia. For God's sake, this admin just ordered all cyber operations in relation to Russia to cease. There is no low they won't stoop to. Any time spent trying to make Trump see the light is time wasted where in the end Trump will try to make you give up everything.

I'm honestly surprised Trump didn't try to have Zelensky arrested and deported to Russia.

The issue there is Trump already won the election. I'm not sure enough people would turn on Vance if he had some legitimate claim to power

For me this is two posts down from an article about a bunch of probationary employees at NOAA getting fired. So maybe they're not fired. Or maybe they'll come into work and just won't get paid later. Or, or, or... who knows.

it literally happened to me but ok

I did a quick install of windows (last year I think?) and it sorted everything into a onedrive folder. documents, pictures, videos, downloads, all that stuff, looked normal from the file explorer, but was sneakily placed into a onedrive folder. it went something like c:/users/me/onedrive/. didn't realize what it had done until like 2 days later and it gave me some popup about not being able to upload. i don't even have a onedrive account; it just decided that was how it should be done. no idea what, if anything, it actually uploaded.

now if i have to install windows i have a script from privacy.sexy i run before doing anything else. havent had that happen again yet. still, probably best to assume anything on a windows machine is not private.

It's still oddly favorable for them to call it a "cost cutting" team. Call it "Musk's team." Or "DOGE." Absolutely no reason for them to talk it up like that in the headline.

So what? AI can and will say just about anything unless it's specifically altered not to. This story is just "the devs haven't yet bothered censoring output about Musk." There are so many legit reasons to dislike Musk and this story is basically "a d20 got rolled and it hit a 20!" Fuck off with this.

Valve has made attempts to take down projects that follow those rules. TF2Classic is the example that comes to my mind since it's the main one I've played, but I know there are several others. In TF2C's case, they tried contacting Valve to find out why they'd been hit with a C&D, never heard back, and eventually quietly resumed development.

Some kind of miscommunication between legal and the devs? Maybe internal drama? Maybe they didn't really pay attention and still aren't aware TF2C is back up? Who knows. Still happened tho.

Some of it is definitely bots, but don't discount the human factor either. Russia had an entire branch of the military dedicated to trolling the Internet at least as far back as 2015. Something tells me that hasn't gotten smaller since then. No doubt they work in tandem with bots as well, constantly editing their output, maybe even making posts from the same accounts.

The fediverse may be small compared to the behemoths, but I don't think we're so small as to be ignored.

Just to be pedantic, the "let alone" turn of phrase is meant to imply that the second thing has a higher standard. So in this case it should be corrected to "this wouldn't hold up in a Victorian age court, let alone a modern one."
