I still wouldn't mind 100k monthly active users, or even 75k.
That should mean one additional active poster on all the community where I'm alone, and that would be cool

Exactly, and if someone had an "AskFootball" community where there would be 2 posts per week, I would also invite them to consolidate with the main Football community

And this is what I’m talking about when I talk about ego. The Ask Android community is there to enable people to ask questions and find answers, you don’t post there and yet you want to close it for your own vanity.
Why is wanting !android@lemdro.id to succeed vanity? I'm not the main mod there (I have an alt mod, but that was to created pinned posts). I just want the community to be active, the whole platform to be active.
So let it be a ghost town. Again, there’s many good communities that aren’t the biggest on Lemmy and they’re a success.

Those are most of the people. You mention vanity and integrity, but you are also shaping the platform in a certain, as we all do, by our actions.
I want Lemmy. I don’t want Blaze’s Lemmy or my Lemmy, I just wanna Lemmy. Not everything needs you or my fingerprints on it.
There are only so many of us around here. You posting to !gunners@lemmy.world has an impact on the platform. People posting, not posting, opening new communities, closing some, moderating. Every action has an impact on the platform. There's no abstract "Lemmy", it's only the result of the users actions and decisions.
Everyone should be able to make suggestions on how communities are run. It doesn't mean that other people have to listen (as I stated previously, for me the core factor will be what people want to do, and that's why I wanted to ask on !askandroid@lemdro.id ).
If you were trying to consolidate android@lw and android@lemdroid and android@whatever I could see where you’re coming from, but you’re literally just being a community Nazi. I can’t support that.
!askandroid is a subset of !android. Not sure why you make such a distinction.

All comments you see mentioning "every time I look for a community on Lemmy to ask a question, it's a ghost town".
You care about defederation and moderation policies. Most users just go for the community with the higher number of subs / MAU. This is the main reason why !privacy@lemmy.ml and !linux@lemmy.ml are still the largest communities by far while !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com and !linux@programming.dev exist.
In a way, you show it yourself with the second. You have to go to !gunners@lemmy.world because it's the only active community. If there was a similarly active gunners community elsewhere, wouldn't you post and comment there instead?
If we want decentralization, the non-LW/ml communities have to be better, otherwise network effect just brings people there naturally.

I like the admin team and the community of Lemdroid.
But we're both part of that community. Me suggesting something to you isn't something that happens in a vacuum, it's two regular poster of the community/instance who discuss where posts are made.

If people don’t like the way Lemdroid is run, LW is there or any other instance is there and available.
Then LW will keep being the centralized instance with the vast majority of communities.

People probably love Android too, but don't want to post to a community where there are 7 post in a month, and with 87 monthly active users compared to !android@lemmy.world which has 1590 MAU (!android@lemdro.id has 3k, but we already know questions aren't allowed there)

My stance is that using a general football community is good based on the amount of regular posters. I think it should be the same for Android.

The main criticism potential new joiners have towards Lemmy is that it's confusing, because communities exist every twice (!android@lemdro.id vs !android@lemmy.world ) , causing https://lawsofux.com/choice-overload/
Letting communities exist doesn't work when the main competitor is Reddit that has been established for 15 years. Small communities start, the main poster shouts into the void for a while, then stops posting and leaves the platform. That's the whole motivation behind !fedigrow@lemmy.zip
When Reddit started, there were no subreddits. There was a single feed, and everything was there. Then, when there was enough activity, general subreddits started.
You call it micromanaging, but there needs to be some consolidation at some point for the platform to be sustainable.

I worry even if the numbers are small now, if we consolidate things into a bucket we’re likely to end up in the same situation again having to redirect the noise so to speak and going round in circles reopening it 🤷♀️

As we know, due to the way Lemmy shows crossposts, the larger community will usually get most of the comments and reactions, while the others won't get much.
