  • I think of all platforms, Webtoon maybe has the best voting system (and I don't even have an account there, I saw it from a friend, lol):

It doesn't allow you to vote on your comments and it shows both upvotes and downvotes seperately.

On the other hand, having the freedom to vote your comments seems nice too, so I'm not very sure which system is the best..😅

  • Ahhh, yeah. I too use the messenger app on mobile and the messenger website on pc.

I just happen to open facebook (I have an open source front end client) from time to time out of boredom, because it's kinda amusing how bad my feed is :)

  • You mean without a fb account? I think you're right, but I think this wasn't possible when I made the account ~3years ago.

About desktop web, I'm only using the website on my pc (and I have isolated the app on work profile on my android, while turning off ads with an lsposed module).

  • I know some German (B1), but it's been a few years since I had classes and those posts help me brush up my German (though they are a bit advanced for my level).

  • I have set mine to show me all and sort by new by default, lol. (If I get bored I may temporarily chenge to hot and top.)

  • I have a ~3year old fb account because I have to use messenger. I don't use FB almost at all (I even sparingly accept friend requests) and have turned off ~anything that provides targeted content (I live in EU).

Since about last year (or possibly even before), my feed is about 35% Ikaria ads (a Greek island, I'm from Greece), 10% porn, 10% sexist-misogynistic stuff, 15% sexist-misogynistic porn, 15% christian stuff and the rest random stuff.

At least this might confirm that turning off targeted content works..🤷

  • Oh, I'm using Thunder, I wasn't aware of this, thank you!

Edit: I saw you deleted your comment, was it wrong?

  • NeutriNote CE. It can save and sync to local folders, probably with some external app you can configure it to sync to cloud. It has auto mirror/backup features.

What I like is the way you can navigate through notes and its powerful search function. It also has some extra features which I don't use. It also has a very detailed manual if you need any help.

  • Spell checker is on, try to disable it. (I dont know if this answers your question)

  • Lol no, I just didnt want to call them by their names (~ideally I would make them sound unimportant, but I was too bored to think that much).

  • I just realised that I've blocked posts containing the last name of the famous felon who got shot recently long ago. I went into Lemmy to see any news about it and found it weird that there weren't many, now it makes sense.😆

(In my keywords I've only filtered this name and the first name of the other guy with the space/car company.)

  • I can't help much, just gonna say that it's so annoying when they dont take you seriously and they essentially gaslight you into thinking whatever they believe is true, without bothering to do proper (lab) tests..

(I had to go to ~5 different doctors for someone to kinda take me seriously and prescribe lab tests. As surprizing as it may seem, lab tests ~diagnose external and internal infections better than an eye with a magnifying glass...) If possible, check reviews on google maps or wherever try another doctor and before you go make sure they're gonna do whatever test you want (insist if needed).

I ~suppose your doctor checked if there's any earwax and tried to clean it, right? (I had to go twice for that, it blocked a lot of sound.)

    Hope your ears eventually recover🥲

  • Lol, my version was "So we put our hands up like the silly can't hold us"

  • 👍

I guess we can probably scrap my idea then😅

  • I have kinda the reverse issue:

I try to find something new to play, but people ~usually tend to resist against trying new games. And if it has many/complex rules it gets discarded even more easily..🥲

  • Old reddit redirect or popup off could probably work as well (both are exentions on firefox).

  • [Edit: It seems like I didnt read you reply properly... Hm, that would be an issue indeed😬...]

Indeed, I think apathy is probably more of a right wing method. But as of now, those people will probably blame everyone but them about the current situtation and will probably not care enough for whatever happens on politics. If they are made to vote though, they might start caring. They might understand that their actions have consequences (it's harder for people to realize that apathy has consequencies too, so an active stance may help them understand). And if they vote the wrong people (provided those people won't irreversibly damage the country), they might eventually realize that they are wrong.

Btw, I just remembered that here in Greece, at least, (I think) voting is both a right and an obligation by the law, but ~no governenment prosecutes any people who don't vote (I'm not proposing to prosecute those people). So, we supposedly have a (bad) mechanism to "make" people vote, which isn't used.
