  • Lol, I wanted to break this law so that we can have infinite energy sources (fun stuff) and to be able to destroy ~useless energy (like thermal energy which is a byproduct of probably all energy conversions), thus reducing entropy and other fun stuff.

  • What about going after the law of conservation of energy?😈

What if energy can be created, destroyed and conserved now? :)

  • Yeah I should probably do a test some day. I'm visiting various doctors lately to fix vairous issues, I will probably go there too eventually.

  • It's even worse when you are in a closed space... I went this year to a concert unprepared (in closed space) without my earplugs and ouchhh, I thought I had lost some hearing due to the strong temporary ringing (I still have some doubts whether my hearing is ok). Same with clubs, I dont go often but I might start bringing my earplugs there too

  • I might oversetimate, I dont have all the boxes in front of me now to measure. I think I have around 4 boxes though, around 50x30x40cm each, plus some random heaps of books scatterred around..😬

If you can notice, this size of boxes is very inefficient. An A4 paper is around 30x21cm. If the boxes were slightly bigger, they could fit 4 stacks of A4-sized books. They way they are though only allows for ~2 heaps, leaving a lot of empty space (though they might arent strong enough to support a completely full box). It essentially increases the total used space ~1.5 times.

I even made my custom box once of "proper" size (to fit 4 stacks of A4 books).

Also, it's not just a5 notebooks. About half of the notebooks are a4 and I have many books which I used to take notes from. I try to scan them too, the pages which have notes of mine at least.

I know, it's a mess and while I've scanned possibly ¼-⅓ of the total mass, I still have a lot more and I create more as time passes.

I might either buy a scanner with autofeeding or find any place that can properly scan my stuff for cheap.

  • Wow, in a single day? And only 250mb? Nice

  • Oh I wasnt aware that there could be such a problem, I ~hadnt ever encountered such an issue.😅

  • Huh, maybe Im weird, but I ~use the water to just wash out the soap (and maybe sometimes I pour hot water for a minute to relax).

I made my process even more efficient few years ago by applying soap both at the head and body before removing it (used to first wash the hair and then the body) and I no longer wash my hair twice (unless the 1st wash wasnt enough).

Edit: I'm from Greece in case it's a culutral difference

  • From wikipedia:

A Navy shower [...] is a method of showering that allows for significant conservation of water and energy by turning off the flow of water in the middle portion of the shower while lathering.

Dont people just turn off the water when they apply soap to themeselves?

  • I think I've noticed the same happening on Thunder, but I dont know exactly how to replicate it

  • I can see 2 "test" and 2 "welcome" posts from you in that community (made before this post). Cant you see them?

  • I know thats not the point of the story, but that guy kinda wasted a chance of creating an army of bugs and become a real hero. Such a shame.

On the other hand, we got a very good story full of misery:)

  • I dont exactly get what "Nib" means, can you explain? About the g502, a relative of mine has the wired one, but the braided cable got damaged very easily. The one I have I got it ~3years ago and I gotta say, it has fallen many times while I was moving the laptop..😬 At least it still works well.

Logitech "updated" the g502 series last year I think, but I think I prefer the older versions (the looks at least).

PS. Putting the cut/copy/paste shrotcuts on the left side of the button has helped me save sooo much time, probably some of my favourite shortcuts.

  • Wait is it dead? I wanted one 10 years ago, but I never got one, cuz it was too expensive (arduino became an alrernative later but havent tried to build ~anything).

  • Wait, was earth always like this in this meme?

  • Ayy, the wireless g502 (lightspeed if I remember correctly?), I really like that mouse :)

  • This reminded me something similar I do:

In my bedroom I have a clock from Ikea which I think I've never changed batteries (or only once?). ~Ever since I got it, it goes around 5minutes ahead of local time every 6 months. I noticed this soon enough, but I liked the idea, so I deliberately set it to be 5minutes ahead of local time (this means after 6months it's ~10minutes ahead).

After some years, I got another clock from ikea. I now have two clocks. One clock which supposedly says the real local time and another one (the older one with the bigger display) that shows the local time 5minutes in the future.

Though both drift a few minutes ahead as time passes and on top of that I tend to be too lazy to fix the ±1hour of the daylight saving time on the old clock, so it's a mess and many times I end up doing calculations when I wake up to figure out the time, lol (Like, the big clock says it's 08:00, but I have to add 1hour because I didnt add the daylight saving time and I have to subtract 10minutes, because 7months have passed since I last set the time right, thus the actual time is 08:00 + 50minutes = 08:50)

  • Hahahaha yeah, its power metal

  • I think I'm bad at this

I have 4 main places I put stuff:

    • My 2018 external 4tb WD HDD (filled up at around ¾)
    • My 1tb laptop ssd
    • My 256gb phone
    • My laptop's previous 2016 1tb hdd

On my external drive I put ~all of my data; my camera files, my screenshots, my phone's app data (like expenses, call logs, contacts, sms, game data, fitness logs), documents etc.

On my laptop I have some stuff which I havent synced to my external drive for around 3 years (oops), but they probably arent the most important stuff.

On my phone I have a lot of important stuff, like around ⅔ of my total camera files (I try to keep the most important ones) and my app data.

On my old laptop's 1tb hdd I keep movies/series and personal books/notebooks I have scanned. Those data dont exist anywhere else. If they get lost, especially the scanned books, it's gonna be bad, because it both took a lot of time to scan them and I have thrown away many of the physical books.

If my external drive fails, around ¼ of the data it contains might be unrecoverable. They might not be the most important files, but still it's gonna hurt a loooot.

I'm currently in the process of reorganizing my files on my laptop and my external drive for various reasons, some of them being 1) I will clear unnecessary/duplicate/temporary/etc files (which will reduce the used space) and 2) it will help me sync my files better.

In the near future I'll probably buy 500gb lifetime on filen.io (cloud storage) to keep the most important stuff, possibly another 4tb drive to mirror my current one to this and ~hopefully I'll make a nas next year to sync everything there.

It's just to expensive for me tho🫤. Filen storage is around 100€, 4tb another 100€ (or I might buy 6tb at 150€) and the nas I want to make costs around 800€...

I want to make a nas to both store and stream stuff. Like a personal home server. I'm thinking of getting 2 12tb hdds and have one of two asynchronously mirror itself onto the other (that way one of the two will be off/disconnected ~most of the time, protecting it from wear and cyber attacks (not sure of the latter will work)).

  • Ayy, beast in black! Saw those guys live (and barely knew them, lol). They make good music (their "beast in black" song seems to be my favourite).
