I not sure this is going to help but I use essentially all the default apps of lineageOS when it comes down to file manager, recorder and gallery.

But I do know that fossify has currently file manager and gallery apps which are very good, the recorder I don't really know a alternative.

Since I don't edit videos on the phone I can't really recommend an app but I am sure there is something in the fdroid repos or even on the github to install via obtainium.

I have to give a go to bedrock eventually, the concept sounds amazing 😄

I don't personally use that much RSS in my computer (more on the phone) but I do know of a terminal RSS reader called newsboat.

In terms of android, I use feeder, its available on fdroid and you can also install it via obtainium

You could switch to proton mail and synchronize the gmail account to proton, saves the hassle 👍

I think with training you might get used to it. Also depending on the task being done maybe you can have more focus on the computer or just use the phone once in a while without needing to remove the hands from the keyboard 🤔

Typing on PC with 2 of them, one checking the phone and the other grabing a snack/drink 😎

If you are an advanced linux user then I would suggest giving a try to the following distros: arch, void, gentoo and (like you said in the post) nixOS.

The reason behind is that this distros are focused on the tinkering aspect of linux, the experience of setting up everything the way you want.

If you want to give a shot to WMs I would suggest i3, sway, dwm, dwl, river, bspwm, Qtile and hyperland (maybe focus more on the Wayland ones if you want to try the latest software).

In regards to the VM, you can alucate as much ram and cpu power to it to make it performe better if needed (when setting up and you can also adjust it afterwards, at least in virtmanager (KVM) ). And there is an aspect I haven't really touched but heard that it improved performance which is gpu passthrough.

(I dont really limit processes and stuff, just simple alucation and configuration)

In case you are interested in setting up KVM, I am going to leave a video for you to watch, also I have found the gpu passthrough video if you are interested as well

I havent gamed on it yet but it is pretty responsive. My specs are nvidia geforce rtx3060 and amd ryzen 7. Also i am using KVM as the hypervisor since it is type 1 which means better performance and safety overall.

Like others suggested, lemmy communities and some news sites like HackerNews.

But also some YouTube channels like Mental Outlaw, The Linux experiment and Brodie Robertson (most of them also have Odysee channels if you don't want to use YouTube). Also Luke Smith (actually he shills a lot of foss software).

I don't even use google anymore, I am currently using brave search (actually pretty good).

Not sure in terms of privacy if they respect that much but in my perspective brave aggregates results by themselves instead of just using the google or bing results so they are at least a decent alternative.

Also the ai integration has been good in the search results imo.
