  • The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Protestors made a poor decision. Despite protesting for the right reasons the consequences will be more harmful to those they sought to stand up for.

This was not an unforeseen consequence, everyone with a brain was screaming it from the rooftop, and now here we are.

  • Yes they did. Musk and Trump literally campaigned together, Musk was on-stage next to Trump at multiple rallies where he spoke too. It was clearly reported during the election that Musk was spending hundreds of millions of dollars to get Trump elected.

Here's an article from September (before the election) with Trump saying he'd create DOGE and have Musk lead it. https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-elon-musk-government-efficiency-commission-e831ed5dc2f6a56999e1a70bb0a4eaeb

Anyone who voted from trump and didn't expect this is either lying, or intentionally being ignorant.

  • We really didn't cave on anything, renaming a person that already exists and allocating money towards fighting organized crime (probably from money already allocated to generic policing that was used on organized crime)

Trump can call it a win if he wants, but Trudeau (and Canada) is laughing at him.

  • I'll give you my experience with this:

I don't quite have a photographic memory but I'd say it's reasonably close in terms of written text. If I pick up a textbook and read it, I can re-read the pages in my head at any point during that test to try to figure out the answer. For tests where all I have to do is recall and write down info, this works really well. For tests where the information needs to be applied to a problem, it helps but doesn't always work perfectly, and here's where I need to use my brain to try to "translate" the book knowledge to apply to the specific question.

I usually studied for 2-3 hours, did a handful of practice questions, then went and got 85%+ on all my Uni final exams. I did sit through lectures, because they were mandatory, but I rarely paid attention, and my verbal recall is terrible compared to what I see written down. I didn't take a single note in university though, because usually between the textbook and the slides I had everything I needed.

  • Imprisonment is extremely expensive, you have to house, feed, and to some level care for the people you imprison.

Giving them documents essentially means there's no restriction on who can live in a country, and for desirable countries this would entirely overwhelm their economy (and other aspects of the country) when millions of people show up in too short of a timespan.

Killing them would be very bad, so getting rid of them via Deportation is the best remaining option.

The only other possibility I can think of would be giving them documents, but imposing harsh financial penalties (something like a permanent (or at least many years) 50% income tax rate or similar) that would both deter people, but also provide revenue to offset the extra costs to the system.
