We need to hold every single person involved their arrests a deportations — from the bottom to the top — responsible for each and every civil rights violation. This can never be forgotten or forgiven.

But if they don’t go back to prison, how are private for-profit prison owners supposed to keep collecting easy, lucrative checks from the government?

California secession / Calexit would be beautiful. That is how I know it would never happen, even as rest of the US collapses into Gilead.

I’m touched that you think mid-50s is young, but bi-directional blocking is, and should be, the universal norm. Social media blocks are inherently about preventing harassment. If they don’t go both ways then they aren’t blocking anything. Hiding/ignoring content and blocking a user are two completely different concepts.

When $40 is half price, I will generally pass as if it were $80. There is a glut of amazing content out there for $40 or less, and much of it is truly inspired indie work. When your half-price game is competing with great full-price indie titles, I will continue to ignore your overpriced corporate muck.

First, the EGS software is really bad. It’s slow, clunky, a pain to navigate, and is missing loads of basic features that Steam has had for decades.

Second, rather than improving their offering to make it more competitive and appealing to consumers, they’ve utilized coercive tactics like exclusivity to force adoption rather than earning it on merits.

Both are scummy, but in this specific circumstance Epic is in the right. Apple's anti-competitive, monopolistic trust needs to be broken.

The problem is that a student has a reasonable expectation of being taught by someone qualified and knowledgeable in the topic. If the professor is using AI, then that is a major breach of trust that brings into question the professor’s qualifications and whether you are actually getting the education you are paying for.

I get where people’s angst comes from. It’s been in development forever, it’s made mind-boggling amounts of money, and the way promises have been routinely made and then broken erodes a huge amount of trust. I can’t blame anyone for thinking of it as “Scam Citizen.”

But despite all that, Chris Roberts has created something that nobody has ever seen before. Even in its current incomplete state, there has never been anything else remotely like it. Maybe it’s the buddhist in me, but I have had so much fun with the game over the years as-is, rather than being upset with what it’s not or what it’s supposed to be.

Comparing it to other “normal” games, the optics of buying stuff can definitely seem pay-to-win, but for anyone that had played it, it’s clear that’s not how things work. And since the game is early access and wipes have been so frequent until now, buying components at this stage is really just a bit of a time saver. You can save a day or two of playing to fund and source the components in-game. I don’t see the problem with that, especially if it keeps development progress moving.

There is never an appropriate time for a bill that limits, curbs, controls, restricts, or obstructs freedom of expression. Remember, if an action or expression does not infringe upon someone else's rights, then any limitation on it - particularly by the state - is a grossly unethical violation of their natural human rights.

HBO Max was the best streaming service out there during the COVID years, and it wasn’t even close. Then Zaslav comes on board and now everything under his umbrella is terrible. If investors want WB, Max, etc to be appealing and profitable again, they need to give Zaslav the boot.

Monopolies and trusts are never beneficial to anyone save those who control them.

I know I’m aging myself, but there has never been anything else like it. The depth, the narrative, the way the gameplay evolves. It’s a masterpiece.
