  • Not being funny, but what the fuck is a homeless person going to do with a raw cauliflower?

I often see carrier bags of dry pasta, tinned tomatoes and stuff just dumped at the roadside, because the person they'd given it to has no way of doing anything with it. Apparently they're supposed to give only food they can prepare, but that clearly doesn't always happen.

Food waste is part of the system. It's fine. It's what stops a shortage from becoming a famine.

  • RTO is just posturing to share holders.

"Look, look, we're treating our staff badly, so you know we're a good investment!"

  • Well they weren't fleeing persecution at all. Most of them were born in the US, years after the Quakers had stopped being persecuted in England.

Mostly Christians, but in the same way my parents say they're Christian. A churchless general belief in god and heaven. Deists, I think the proper word is.

  • Not even sure they care any more. They make so much money from corporate Office use and Azure that everything else could disappear tomorrow.

Half the world went from applications to web based stuff years ago. Them and Amazon are now running most of that, regardless of you using Windows or Linux.

  • Is this really that though? They've called it an Xbox and it only runs PC games.

It's not even their own hardware. Replacing Explorer.exe with a custom launcher is an absolute bare minimum effort.

  • You already can, it's the same handheld they've been selling for years.

  • Was more than 20%. Battery life was like 2.5 hours on Windows and about 7 on Linux (on an undemanding game)

Presumably Windows is pricking about in the background, and not letting it go into an energy saving mode.

  • Been going on a lot longer than that...

  • In fairness a lot of the people "fleeing religious persecution" were the nutcases who thought there wasn't enough of it.

  • Prison? We've seen the photos. Time to call it what it is.

    It's a concentration camp.

  • The car that hadn't even come round the corner yet?

  • I'd say it'll backfire when people can't play those odd Xbox games that for some reason never came to PC, but there's so few people using Xboxes anyway, I doubt it's going to matter. They've well and truly dropped the ball since the Xbox 360, and don't really show any signs of being interested in picking it up again.

Everything just points to them making enough money from everything else to not really care. This is as token an effort as it's possible to make in the handheld space.

  • Because they don't want to get shot by trigger happy cops?

Because they don't want to go to jail when a bunch of techbros pore over phone GPS logs and high resolution footage and drag them into court six months down the line?

  • Terrified of all brown people, like half of America post 9/11

  • Almost as if Agent Orange watched Fox news as his only source of info and thought the whole state was rioting.

  • It's no surprise to me that the person at work who is most excited by AI, is the same person who is most likely to be replaced by it.

  • Imagine how David Prowse feels. First the voice, then the face.

His kids must have thought he was full of shit when he told them he played Darth Vader.

  • Reminder that "I was only following orders" is not a valid defence. It wasn't at Nuremberg, and it isn't now.
