  • Baby: costs thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars over a minimum of 18 years

Monitor: shows memes and games, costs a few hundred dollars for a good one, one time purchase

Obviously the child is the stupid financial decision

  • Ben "I Stole My Sister's Panties" Shapiro

  • I genuinely prefer the graphics of older games...

This is because a lot of older games were going for an artistic style, the graphical fidelity of today's games was too far out of reach. BioShock is a perfect example because of its beautiful art direction.

AAA games used to have character to them, now every person has to have 1200 individually rendered pores and a remaster every few years to make it look more realistic (cough cough The Last of Us)

  • 10mm socket, commonly known by mechanics to be the single most lost tool on the planet. Most cars use them a lot, but they're always nowhere to be found

  • Same with curved TVs. I knew a guy who dropped $2500 on a 65" Samsung Curved TV thinking it was the coolest thing ever. He mounted it on his wall and quickly realized he made a mistake because of the horrible viewing angles. Unfortunately for him, he threw away the box at the store because it would t fit in his car, so he was stuck with it.

  • To be fair you don't necessarily need an Apple iPod, there are plenty of other mp3 players that are on/were on the market before. iPods are just the go-to for most since it's the most widely recognized. I'm sure you can find a couple basic players at your local dollar store if you prefer to not use an Apple product.

They've partially been revitalized in the mainstream again by YouTubers such as Dankpods or Zac Builds making upgraded versions or reviving them for modern use.

There's still choice out there for other players, but most are sold as smart phones without a cellular antenna, such as the Fiio flagships or the Astell & Kern players. I could even argue an old Android phone with a headphone jack and all other apps removed with ADB could work as a simple player as well.

  • I'm using them lol I know I could sell all 3 for a good price, 2 are EVGA K|ngP|n cards and one is a FE that has a very good overclock potential. I'm not looking to upgrade now, they still work fine.

  • The GPU market is a goddamn disaster. Nvidia can't even put the right amount of ROPs on a card or back up their "5070 is a 4090 hurr durr" claims, AMD ditching higher end GPUs, melting connectors, AI, AI, AI!!, etc. Even with Intel's Arc GPUs it's not enough to compete when Nvidia has all the market share in consumer cards.

I've got a 7800xt, a few 3090s in various gaming/video editing systems and a RX 6400 for a backup card. I'm not buying any more until this AI bubble bursts and cards start having actual amounts of uplift from generation to generation and when I can buy one without them getting botted to hell and back.

  • I'm a carrier for USPS, I have a guy on my route who often orders Volkswagen parts from all over Europe. One day he got a replacement subframe for one of his VW's from Estonia and it arrived at our office pretty beat up. When he needed to sign for it he saw the condition and I told him that's how we received it. The shipper sent it by just sticking the subframe in a box, no padding, no supports, just a cardboard box for a trip around the world. He obviously was upset and had another one sent as a replacement after filing a claim.

The replacement was packaged exactly the same, and luckily only slightly bent on arrival. The old one is still sitting in our office in limbo.

If you're gonna ship something overseas or across town package that shit properly

  • Not even just that, but modern vehicles make it a pain in the ass to just put your wipers up before a snow storm. Used to be you just lift them up and they're done. Now you have to get in the car, hold the wiper stalk up to the manual wipe mode and let them go up before you can get back out and lift them. I know it's for aerodynamics hiding them under the cowel but it's still a pain in the ass. My last 2 cars have had this feature.

  • The absolute bliss

Same with me when I was in Brazil, it was chugging along just fine back in New England

  • Actually I had an issue where trying to sign into my samba share caused explorer.exe to crash constantly, running sfc /scannow fixed it surprisingly. Glad that's on my "these programs only work on Windows" system.

  • I don't recommend anyone buy a Jeep, not because of the ads but because they're built like shit. Quality has been in free fall for decades while prices have skyrocketed. Death wobble issues (Wranglers), motor reliability out the window, rust, more rust, just not worth it.

I owned a 94 Cherokee and I loved it, and even though that 4.0L straight 6 had problems at least it would still run with bad piston rings, mysterious battery drain and holes in my radiator. The new ones just can't compete.

  • Yeah my 3090 K|ngP|n pulls over 500w easily, but that's over 3 8 pin PCIe cables, all dedicated. Power delivery was something I took seriously when getting that card installed, as well as cooling. Made sure my 1300w PSU had plenty of dedicated PCIe ports.

  • Exactly, sometimes you just wanna jam to some mp3's out of an iPod like the good ol days. It's about the ✨vibes✨

  • Ryzen 1200/GTX 960 small build running Linux Mint. There's a UHD blu-ray drive in it as well with the custom firmware to rip disks. Media is stored on my NAS that handles Plex and transcoding. The parts were mostly old extras I had lying around, just needed the case, blu-ray drive and boot SSD. Oh and the like $20 wireless Logitech keyboard/track pad combo for control.

  • My video editing software doesn't, I'll find the image I need for a video and will have to convert it to .png before it'll even look at it. To be fair I'm running an old version because the new one is subscription based 🤢

  • Brother I can't remember why I walked into the other room, let alone something that happened 180,000 years ago 🙄

  • Same here, had Firefox installed since I got this phone in September and it's still off (also just checked)
