  • I started dual booting Ubuntu and Windows when I was 19 or so and when I'd go back to my Windows partition to do something I realized I had either forgotten or never learned a lot of how to navigate it. I opened it and went "Where is my terminal?" and then remembered cmd and started using it to look for a directory before remembering that's never how I'd done things on Windows. It was an odd experience.

  • I'm pretty sure antiX is designed for this specific use, but I have not run it personally. It's based in Debian stable (which right now is Bookworm and will be Trixie pretty soon). I'm very fond of Debian. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done.

  • For me personally I install kitty terminal and integrate it with fish asap. Then I waste a bunch of time customizing it to my liking. My preferred text editor is Kate regardless of what DE I'm using and I usually get bleachbit for basic cleanup.
