I miss my GBA, I loved the form factor of that little guy. Fit perfectly in a pocket, super comfortable to hold for ages. I had the see through plastic version which was super cool.
I got it for free and really enjoyed it. The main character is the epitome of beige and bland generic gruff white dude but the game did quite a lot new and had some good ideas.
The second one was even better, it's very meme heavy in its characters but if you can tolerate them the gameplay is even better and the story is better too.
I've been playing Remnant 2 which I'm really enjoying. Fairly similar to the first one, the moment to moment gunplay and exploration just clicks for me.
Also done a few rounds of Take and Hold in Hotdogs horseshoes and hand grenades which is still my favourite VR game. The new Institution level is kicking my butt though, haven't worked out the best spots yet.
I'm really looking forward to Hades 2 this year. I especially enjoyed the die to get more story mechanics from the first one.
Colour of magic is my least favourite Discworld book. He hadn't quite found his style for the series yet. Still a good book but doesn't really stack up to the rest.
I know my universe is at least internally consistent from experience.
I think therefore I am after all.
Not all science relies on our senses but it does rely on our interpretation of results which is why we often use meta analysis looking at multiple studies to try to control for as much human bias as possible.
The top comment currently is about null hypothesis, you don't prove your assertion you disprove it under specific measured circumstances, it's really hard to prove the existence of, well anything really, but we can at fairly reliably show we are at minimum sharing a simulation as people can have the same experiences of events.
Yup and quite well too. I really like my g2, the tracking isn't always the best but it's good enough most of the time and the screen is really good. You do need a fairly beefy PC though. I've got a 3070 and can't run the higher end games on full settings. They still look good though.
I'm pretty sure you can make the g2 boot straight to steam vr at the moment so hopefully that will just become the default. Otherwise I'll just have to stop updating my computer which is less ideal.
There was so much hope, everything was exciting and new. The world was getting better. Though I was <10 for most of the 90's so maybe it was just being a kid.
Have a read of Fate core, there's an SRD online for just the rules but the core book is great for GM advice, even if the system is way too meta for my taste now. Blades in the Dark also has some excellent GM advice and is currently my favourite game system.
I'm running a Fate game currently with nothing pre written and Very minimal prep week to week.
Session zero players make characters and decide what elements they want to see in the world, vampires, Wizards, cults, werewolves. This gives me themes and factions to work with.
Between session 0 and 1 I did a fair bit of prep (like a couple hours) but only so far as main factions, key characters, goals and some aspects.
Once you know who the key people are and what they want it's pretty easy to plan, they will follow their goals unless the players get in the way somehow.
Then between each session all I need to do is think how the world reacts to the last session. Usually all that means is that someone now wants to kill the PC's as top priority. My usual planning time is like 15 to 30 minutes, often less. Though I'm happy running a very improv heavy game and think I'm pretty good at coming up with interesting scenarios off the cuff.
Some people benefit from having more groundwork laid out.
Regarding illusion of choice, I started like that: do you go left or right? It doesn't matter I've made one map and it's a circle so your going to the end whatever you do.
I find my current way more fun, it's less work and I get to be surprised by what happens as well. Yeah it's frustrating if I have a cool idea and the players decide that the faction it translates to isn't that exciting and don't interact but given all ove done with that facton is named the leader thought about their resources and goals if it's not used yet it's not really a waste of my time.
Just to reassure you that you can run games without a module and with very minimal prep but the improv muscles need lost of practice.
I find shaving much more mediative with brush and hard soap. It took a little while to learn the technique and the directions my hair grows in but it's a much more enjoyable process than with a cartridge razor and canned soap. Plus I can change my blade every 4 shaves or so and it's like 10p a shave so much cheaper than cartridges.
Highly recommend a long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers. Sci-fi book, lovely atmosphere, very cosy. Highly recommend the whole series.
