  • Yes, a woman, and yes USD. That’s the no-frills salon price for a trim for my hair which is “long/thick (curly)”. The more expensive places range into the $200s.

  • Cheapest haircut in my town for my hair type is $75+tip. I just cut it myself now.

  • Some doubt I guess is healthy. The idea that it’s a sign I’m not an asshole yet is one I want to lean into. My field is known for its arrogant assholes, unfortunately.

You are so spot on about owning decisions and shedding that doubt. It’s something I’m also working on. Experience helps. Being the expert in the room for the first time is daunting for anyone.

  • Center the things that help you grow and bring you joy.

  • I love the way you have put this.

  • To this day I can’t make myself do a joja run, despite my dislike of the guy who owns the store in SDV.

  • I’m over here debating “well technically there might be 3 pixels of crosswalk in the next square, but it might also be curb…” and “is that a bus off in the distance or just a suspiciously shaped gray rectangle…perhaps a bench?”

  • Yep…a lot of the people I serve who just so happen to have conditions he targets routinely receive services thanks to Medicaid. And no they are not cut out to work in fields.

  • 6 years of college and 2 years of supervised fieldwork and I still get imposter syndrome.

  • That makes me feel a little better. I know I should do a better job keeping up. By the time I’m done for the day, most of the time my brain is jello. Nice username, btw. I agree it isn’t bad for a short amount of time.

  • I love your recommendation. Unfortunately I am very out of the loop with that sort of thing these days. And I’m without resources if I accidentally break something. I need my desktop for work as well. I’d be happy to read up on the topic if you could suggest some reputable sources that someone without a tech background could break down. It’s why I save it all up until summer. So I pay them as little as possible.

  • I saved up a bunch of shows and waited all year to binge in one month over the summer and cancel.

  • Yeah. Sometimes I hear the message ding too. Guess I’m lonely.

  • Their behavior is such a disservice to the victims. They simply couldn’t admit to being wrong about climate change. It’s painfully disingenuous. And will create more victims in the future as magical thinking and conspiratorial voices are elevated

  • Great question. Tried the paid thing (38f). Lots of decent (superficially) matches, none of whom shared my values or interest. It was a huge waste of money across apps.

  • My field is dominated by women but we have a few men. People are often escalated when they see me—I come in to cool things down and give strategies. Consistently, the people who pout, threaten, mutter under their breath, and act like they want to hit me are not the women. I’m sure it’s due to the lack of emotions.

  • For me, working in human services does the trick. Over the summer I take a vacation to heal body/mind, and swap to spending more time on MMOs, a Mud, and making sure I go “out” somewhere at least once a day. Even just to the library.

  • It’s more a reaction to the policies that make relationships and pregnancy dangerous. Why settle down when you could be one of the 1/5 natural miscarriages and potentially go into septic shock or blow a fallopian tube?
