  • Anything could happen. I do feel like Democrats are purposefully trying to lose. But what you said is possible too for those reasons. Because of the structure of US government, the ruling class could try to keep Biden in while also hoping for a red legislative wave. That way the bourgeois regime will still have some legitimacy as everything goes according to plan, while progressive defeats continue to happen because of the theatre of "gridlock." Biden's senile ass has proved to be an incredibly useful puppet for them. He's been a successful neocon.

Even then, that strategy is still a gambit for the capitalist class. If the most hardcore MAGA Republicans achieve the proper numbers in the house and senate, then the ruling class will have essentially let the dogs off the leash. The system will just further descend into instability.

  • I'm seeing lots of Arabs and Palestinians lump Xinjiang in the conversation about "liberation from occupation everywhere."

Hopefully people continue to dissect the CIA origins of the Xinjiang accusations, but I'm not super optimistic.

  • There's this misinfo going around that because Hamas uses it like every single other Palestinian liberation group, that it's a "Hamas term."

Even though it was in use decades before Hamas even existed. But what the fuck is objective reality to liberals?

  • Went to a march for Palestine yesterday. I'm in a pretty progressive city, but it was still surprising just how many people showed up and how many bystanders showed their support. There are thousands of people marching every day for Palestine all over the country and the media is just ignoring it.

  • They are building the bridge to the inevitible ruling class seizure of the machinery of government. America's capitalist class is about to replace/reconfigure the state organs that have stabilized the class heirarchies for the past 200+ years. Considering just how dramatically they've betrayed every progressive promise they made this cycle, I have a hard time believing Democrats are even trying to win. It's a fascist partnership with the Republicans to intensify class rule. They stand to benefit from it and are ready to hand it off.

  • The pessimism makes more sense given the context of the time it was written in. I've heard Gerald Horne's Counterrevolution series described by some as a more contemporary analysis that succeeds Settlers.

I think the controversial rap the book gets is due more to its more dogmatic followers. Like a lot of maoists/third worldists, they have accurate observations but draw questionable conclusions from them.

  • This weird idea that Trump is less of an enemy towards the Global South because he did a few symbolic things like meet Kim Jong Un and tried to extort Zelensky needs to die. That's just him being chaotic.

He's the one that started providing Ukraine lethal military aid. He started the policy of US military invasion "games" aimed at the DPRK. He attempted coups, loudly assassinated Soleimani, and claimed Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

  • It's more division. His trolling is to isolate the left if anything else. That's been the alt-right strategy for a while. His base hates Israel because they hate Jews. This riles them up while also further equating criticism of Israel with antisemitism. Add to the fact that Trump's shit takes are blasted everywhere, overtaking any anticolonial analysis, and this becomes the dominant assumption among liberals as well. To the uninformed, leftists now look like they are tailing Trump's antisemitism.

This is my analysis for Trump's contrarianism anyway. Hunch is that this is very much a tag team effort between Democrats, Republicans, and media giants to manufacture consent while alienating the left. Trump is not as rogue or off-script as the media paints him to be. He is doing what is expected.

These past four years have felt like Democrats are trying to lose reelection on purpose, alienating every demographic that came out to reluctantly vote for them and betraying us more egriously than past administrations. At this point it really just feels like they're prepared to hand Trump the presidency and are just going through the arbitrary steps in the circus. The ruling class has already positioned themselves for the full transition from liberal domestic politics to full-on fascist takeover.

  • A dominant ideological element of western society is white supremacy and it obscures that core foundation in so many ways that otherwise nice people, white and non-white, embrace it unknowlingly. So much of this process works by weaponizing peoples' compassion by controlling exactly what they do and don't see. Bully and gaslighting people into what they should and shouldn't feel. Picking and choosing who's heart bleeds for which group.

The people of the Third Reich thought they were liberators. The people of Imperial Japan thought they were liberators. The people of the US think they are liberators.
