  • Was flipping through the channels the other day and the question was something like "What is the last place you want to spend new years?"

The person sad "Jail" and of course he collapses into the podium Whaaa. And of course it was the #1 answer.

  • 15 character minimum passwords that expire every 90 days and require MFA to remote in from home with 3 separate login sessions just to get to your PC, along with stripped down rights for everyone, even IS. The rights are so strict that if you wanted to, for instance, update a trusted application like Notepad++ because a recent exploit was found which would be a security concern, you can't use the auto-update feature of the application; you have to download it manually from their repository, and run it using a special admin account created for you that doesn't have an associated email address but also has a 90 day password requirement. But you wouldn't been able to use their repository 6 months ago because we block any IP address outside the US and their previous service was located in UK, so if you wanted to keep that piece of software up-to-date with security and vulnerability patches (which they've harped on a number of times before) you'd have to find alternative download services located in the US regardless of how shady.

    I wish I was joking.

  • Ah yes, my old manager. Has to be the one talking at any given moment, her meetings always go at least 15 minutes over because she spends half the time talking about every mundane thing her kids said, if there's a meeting/call and 8 seconds of silence she has to make some kind of comment only she thinks is funny and forcefully laugh at it, and her own team members can't give a project update without her talking over them to repeat what they already said or to add info that isn't relevant.

  • Reminds me of when Circuit City was finally going out of business and they were having a liquidation sale. There were some TVs I was looking at and they were regularly priced at like $800. They had STACKS of those TVs they couldn't move.

Then CC was going out of business and was going through liquidation. The same TVs were being advertised as MSRP $1,299 but 25% liquidation pricing and people were buying 2 at a time.

  • It's been a while but I think they tried to establish 100F as the average human body temperature. But after they established that baseline turns out they were off by 1.4 degrees and couldn't change it.

  • You don't even need to nuke the drains. Just cover them up. I had drain flies coming out of my shower drain for weeks and couldn't figure out how to stop them initially. Read online to block the drain for a couple days when it's not in use. I just covered the drain with a sink plunger and they were gone.

  • There is a high chance that someone shoving that thing-blue-line bullshit probably own a gun and are desperately waiting for an excuse to shoot someone for even the most minute reason. And they had said "FAFO" 3 times already that day

  • They outright said in DS9 that it was supposed to be a fleet or swarm. The idea was that a large number of Defiant Class ships would attack. With how fast and maneuverable they are they wouldn't be large sitting ducks like Nebula, Galaxay or Excelsior classes.
