  • Interesting thought experiment - is a pc exactly as efficient as a resistive space heater? In a pc some tiny amount of electricity is converted to light and sound and kinetic energy instead of heat. But then again, don't those other forms of energy just eventually just turn back into heat again? Hmmm...

  • I mean as bad as those things were, none of those things come close to recent events. Look at your examples and compare them to "worldwide virus kills millions and the entire planet goes into quarantine for a couple years" or "president of the United States fails to get reelected so he foments a literal coup on the US government and his rioting mob breaks into the capitol building trying to stop the transfer of power. And then 4 years later that criminal gets elected to be president again".

  • No one said it'll be the death of windows altogether, the meme and comments are saying it may be the death of windows for dedicated gaming rigs (meaning handheld pc gaming devices and dedicated desktop gaming pcs)

  • Another help is to fill in the recipients AFTER you finish writing the email. That way you can't automatically hit send when you finish writing the text, helps make sure you do a quick double check that everything is correct

  • The only thing changing here is the way cables are going to be labeled, the tech itself is staying exactly the same.

And on top of that, the author was generally correct for most situations, but usb (and especially usb c) truly has replaced a ton of separate connectors with a single standard. And it's very likely to continue to replace even more as time goes on
