For others who wonder the same: the announcement is from the 19th this month and they licensed it under Apache 2.0.
This is really cool to see! I hope they are testing the waters for releasing the source engine as free software. I remember Gabe Newell stating that they would consider it if people were interested. Doesn't have to mean anything, but a woman can dream~

I can relate to the "I like myself [way] more when unmedicated". In my case, I realized that I am already dependant on them. Trying to get by without them is doing harm to myself in various ways.
That energy was in my case better spend on finding ways to cope with the medication. For example: if I'm going outside to see people, I might not take them. It makes it harder the next day, but slightly enough that it's worth it.

I heard of Chimera multiple times now, but everytime I look into it it doesn't seem to be more interesting and useful than say Alpine.

I do want to point out that a free culture kiss is more intimate than it initially seems. With proprietary kisses, you never really own the kiss. It is not your kiss, rather you're allowed to hold on to the kiss until its giver decides to take it away again.
Only with a free culture kiss the kiss is really yours.
