  • Banning tax prep companies is a bad, poorly thought out idea.

Simplifying tax prep is the avert. Doing what the rest of the developed world does, where the IRS sends you a receipt and you can either accept that or manually file if you think you owe less.

Banning tax prep companies just hurts people who have a nonstandard tax situation. Small business owners, people with tax relief from disabilities, all manner of normal people in niche situations. Don't take away the tools they need, remove the opportunity for parasite companies to prey upon average people.

  • Hangers or a dresser for your clothes.

Don't worry about the broom thing if this is a shared house, that's really a "one per house" type of thing, no need for every tenant to have their own.

The desk/storage next to it is getting a little cluttered. Be careful of that, it's a natural starting place for mess to creep out into the rest of the room.

You don't feel like an adult because you're 20. You barely are one, it's okay. You'll figure things out as you go.

  • While the US government's fiscal year starts in October, and many employers have fiscal years not starting on Jan 1, individual taxes are generally calculated by the calendar year. Form 1040 defaults to that unless you write in otherwise.

  • The one thing I'd object to with the sports example is that I don't wanna see game day threads for teams I don't care about, but I'm totally open to general discussion of the league, including about teams I don't follow. If literally JUST the GDT were split off to the individual team communities I'd be cool with it.

But I totally agree with the over-fracturing of interests. Every now and then I'll see someone make a "spinoff" of a mostly dead community, just to post 2 or 3 things and stop. It'd be better if they just posted that in the existing community even though it only aligned 90% as well as they'd hoped.

  • So this is absolutely a capitalist horror story, but investing in stocks is one of the best long-term strategies to counter inflation. Just not so much in the short term like the OOP says, due to the heightened risk.

  • I mean, the point of strategic stockpiles is to use them when called for. This isn't necessarily a problem YET, until the stockpiles are empty, not just depleted, despite the factories churning out new ammo as fast as they can.
