  • That explains why everything after taken king felt like garbage, they didn’t have their creative to steal from anymore and ran out of his ideas. Destiny 2 from the start was a terrible game and it only got worse over time. Then they stole the entire game people originally paid for and gave them nothing in return and I never played it again.

  • It does have day to day effects, but it’s definitely less dangerous than alcohol. It’s still overloading your dopamine levels when you use it, and effecting your dopamine production. I used daily for over a decade, and I still use once every couple months, but my emotional regulation has been so much easier since I quit daily smoking. Less frustration, less depression, just a better baseline emotional state. Several long term studies show this also. This podcast has a lot of great info from a neuroscientist with a history of addiction.

  • I’m not in tech, I’m in manufacturing, and I’ve become trapped in my job because wages in the industry have gone down by about 10% in the last year. Thankfully I’m grandfathered in from the relatively high wage I got in the post covid wage rises, but my raises have been sub inflation two years in a row. Even going by the entirely bullshit official government inflation numbers, my real wage has gone down since I started.

Prices on housing and food are so sky high, that I can’t even get approved for a one bedroom apartment or studio despite making $60k, because they’re charging 55% of my after tax wage per month. I don’t live on the coasts, either. The job I came from before this was paying me $21/hr, and is now offering $16/hr, which is literally less than Taco Bell and just above minimum wage. Food and other transient monthly costs are so high now that after feeding my family and paying my bills, I’ll be able to save about $3k this year, down from 8.5k last year.

  • The coughing, holy shit. I used to wake up and sound like I was dying and spit out so much nasty shit every morning. My family could literally tell when I was awake by the sounds I made.

  • When I first hugged my little brother after I switched to vaping he said, “you don’t smell like cigarettes” and my heart just broke. I can’t ever go back, even if vaping isn’t really helping me quit nicotine, it’s still saving them from being around the smell like I was when I was a little kid, and I hated that damn smell. Should’ve never started, but it’s easier said than done.

  • No worries, it’s only one example also. They have better maternity laws than my country, better sick time laws, better overtime pay, better holiday pay, more holidays. It’s not perfect, nowhere is, but it’s not the land of sweat shops most would have you believe it is.

  • The US has subsidized Tesla alone more than China has subsidized all their electric car companies combined. They don’t believe China is massively subsidizing the market for green tech, they believe that they are unable to compete on a fair playing field and so will attempt to tip the scales in their favor.

  • I know, thanks. I get pretty annoyed with people calling people I interact with on a daily basis a bot. You’re the outsider here, coming in and spewing bs conspiracy theories. Don’t be surprised when you don’t get a standing ovation for it.

  • The Poverty Elimination Campaign required all citizens to have adequate food, clothing, shelter, water, electricity, and ability to access education. So, no, it wasn’t just that. They built many homes for people, provided them subsidized food supplies, power stations to provide power to extremely rural areas, and more.
