The Series X controller is a seriously nice piece of hardware. It feels solid and responsive in the hand, and as a bonus, it has really nice remappable back paddle kits from ExtremeRate available. I’m not a fan of their PS5 paddle solution, but they did a good job on the Xbox Series. I recommend at least picking up a series controller at some point, they’re great.
I have both also. The Series X is the more powerful machine, no doubt about it. I prefer the DualSense for everything but FPS games, though. I much prefer Sony’s exclusive lineup, and having ps4 games work makes it even better, because I much preferred Sony’s exclusives in that generation too. Overall I end up playing the PS5 far more often than my Xbox. Microsoft’s backwards compatibility is so great though. I love being able to pop in original Xbox games I have laying around and playing them in 4k. That alone was enough reason for me to pick it up.
It’s not at all like what humans do. It has no understanding of any concepts whatsoever, it learns nothing. It doesn’t know that it doesn’t know anything even. It’s literally incapable of basic reasoning. It’s essentially taken words and converted them to numbers, and then it examines which string is likely to follow each previous string. When people are writing, they aren’t looking at a huge database of information and determining the most likely word to come next, they’re synthesizing concepts together to create new ones, or building a narrative based on their notes. They understand concepts, they understand definitions. An AI doesn’t, it doesn’t have any conceptual framework, it doesn’t even know what a word is, much less the definition of any of them.
Lmao. I won’t try to convince you otherwise. They’re pretty cool. If you don’t want to spend the money (and depending how much money you spend there’s an inverse correlation to how much tinkering you’ll have to do. Cheaper = way more work), you can have people on Etsy print them for you. There’s also entire sites dedicated to printing things for people for pretty cheap.
That was probably only $0.20 in plastic, buuuutr… I did put like $1000 into my printer, plus dozens of hours learning how to use it properly.
It was reality when this aired. Skeevy business man prioritizing personal gain over societal well-being has been a part of the American fabric for decades. This specific archetype dates back at least to the 80s.
Many of those allow you to copy the files freely and move them between computers, even to computers that don’t have Steam. Hell, I played Half-Life on my Linux handheld yesterday, and I didn’t install it through steam. Just copied the files onto the SD card, set up a script to bind the controls, and launched the game.
Now, I’ll concede you must initially sign in to get access to the files, just as you must sign in to download installers on gog.
I use both often though. I play a lot on the aforementioned Linux handheld, and you can port pretty much any DRM-free game to it. Most surprisingly work better using the Steam version than they do the GoG version, though that is likely to be down to the handheld and not anything the stores are doing.
Then you’re still driving to Costco just to get hotdogs, which means you’re putting more resources into using their deal than would be needed to just buy and make your own hotdogs.
Steam: here’s a platform. We know some corpos won’t release games without DRM, so here’s our in-house solution that’s non-intrusive, but if you don’t want to put DRM in your game, we won’t force you. Want to include a backup installer? Cool. No worries. Oh you don’t have solid internet? That’s cool, if you get the games installed somehow, you can use offline mode indefinitely with no issues, sorry it took us so long to work out the bugs.
Epic: YOU MUST YSE OUR SHITTY DRM FOR ANY GAME RELEASED ON OUR PLATFORM, AND YOU MUST BE ONLINE AT ALL TIMES OR YOU CANNOT PLAY THE GAMES YOU PURCHASED.
Funny, because there are over a billion Muslim people who don’t try to force their beliefs on others.
So if we can do things based on the actions of a few extremists, then given that definitively Christianity is the most violent religion in known history, both contemporary and historically, where are the Bible burnings? If they’re being consistent, singling out Islam wouldn’t be a thing. I
Or we can recognize that this is an inherently reactionary “protest” that does nothing but antagonize people who otherwise would have likely no problem with you. It’s New Atheism to the max. Thinking that one is so enlightened that being disrespectful to other groups is not only acceptable, but necessary. You catch more flies with honey than burning books.
I feel that. I play retro games on my SBCs, so that feature is less important to me on a console style controller.
