  • People are treating ibuprofen like it's fentanyl in this thread lol. It's reasonably safe and when used like a regular person knows how to use them poses very little risk of damage to your body. The meme is funny and the message is fine, don't feel bad OP

  • You're not gonna get addicted to ibuprofen and risks to your kidneys or stomach lining are only worth consideration for regular long term use (2+ weeks of daily use) or for those with contraindicating health issues. Take the ibuprofen. This IS medical advice

  • That's kind of my point. No one at subway is calling themselves artists, it's insulting and they don't like it. You answered your own question, the answer is: they don't.

In instances where they use their given title it's probably for convenience. I'm an EMT, when I was doing interfacility runs for a private ambulance company (aka not doing the expected work of an EMT) I didn't call myself an ambulance driver or professional insurance fraud fall guy, I called myself an EMT because it was easier to use in day to day conversation. If someone wanted to talk about it I would explain the nuances but I'm not gonna do that every time someone asks me what I do for work in polite conversation

  • You could probably walk into the ER and just ask the triage nurse if you could have some socks lol. Most medical staff love just giving shit away, at least in my area. Also, if you're not bothered by the questionable nature of second hand underwear, I've seen tons of grippy socks in thrift stores so that may be worth a look

  • Marx's definition of what constitutes a state is so nebulous that you could consider the organizational structure that most libertarians propose to be a state. Not to throw shade at libertarian marxists, of which there are a good handful. His framework of the state and power structures is lacking and not very useful for anarchist analysis and theory. Our conceptions for what a state is and how power functions are very different from authoritarian conceptions. Marxism isn't the end all be all of socialist theory, and if that's as far as you've gone in your study of the topic I'd be happy to provide some anarchist theory and analysis.

I want to write more and get into the weeds of it but I keep tripping over myself wanting to pull all the strings together but there's just too much to break down for a comment. I'm happy to talk more about the differences but I think we may need to narrow the scope a bit more, or take it one thing at a time. Theres like 5 different tangents I could go off on lol. Or I could drop some links if you'd rather have it all laid out in one shot haha

  • If socialism is understood as collective/worker ownership of the means of production, which I would argue is a fitting and accurate definition, then anarchism requires socialism in order to end coercive relationships of domination in the workplace. Socialism doesn't necessitate a state and many anarchists/libertarian socialists would argue socialism is impossible with a state

  • Im also an anarchist and get around that by pulling the ol switcheroo on them. I say a bunch of anarchist shit I know they'll agree with and when the times right go "yeah and thats why I'm an anarchist". Gets them to open up a bit and leaves them with a better impression of what anarchism actually is

  • Looting or boycotts, you need a certain amount of people dedicated to the cause to make corpos sweat. Sporadic actions by varying groups for different reasons is a mild inconvenience and achieves little. Not to say we shouldn't be doing both, we absolutely should, but it needs to be organized and I don't think there's a large enough political body that would adopt these tactics yet.

I'd also like to add the looting small shops for no reason other than fuck capitalism isn't a great message. If the owner was a dick then go for it and make it known why. Large chains aren't going to punish employees for shoplifting, at least there hasn't been any real evidence to support that. They threaten to close stores all the time due to "crime" but it's never once panned out to be the real reason if they do wind up closing a store. I wouldn't worry about the employees, it's a very slim chance that they'll see any punishment for it and even then, that could be used as a radicalizing force to bring more people into the movement

  • I have no faith in the state and I'm explicitly against execution. I support inert gas executions because I don't trust the state to use other means effectively. There is essentially no room to fuck it up. It's dead simple and requires minimal equipment or set up. You could fit enough nitrogen and masks to kill over 10 people in a backpack if you needed to. I don't care if they care if it's not painful. I know it isn't painful. Your contrarianism is hollow and based on nothing but your own ignorance
