  • One thing that I hope becomes more common is open source game code + proprietary art, sound and narrative. Game devs, artists, writers, etc deserve to get paid for their work, and we deserve to know what's running on our computers. The more game devs use open source engines, the closer we get.

  • When a woman kills the man that's beaten her for years

More like a woman builds a pipe bomb and blows up the school the man that's beaten her for years sends his kids to.

Your fundamental mistake here is assuming that all Israelis are complicit. In the same way that just because a person is Palestinian, that doesn't make them Hamas, just because someone is Israeli doesn't make them Otzma Yehudit.

If you want to go down that road of insanely broad generalizations, you could just as easily say that Israel is correct to bomb civilians because "how many of those civilians support Hamas?". I hope you see how insane that statement is, and how it's the mirror image of what you said.

  • Israel is trying to rope all Jews in

As a secular non-Israeli Jew, this is absolutely correct. They correctly state that they're the country of last resort, the refuge for Jews if things go full Nazi in whatever country you're in. Then they use that status to try and get unconditional support for all their policies.

Likud, Shas, the various hyper-religious parties and all their allies shouldn't be allowed to run a corner store, let alone a country.

Especially Otzma Yehudit. Those people are scum of the highest order.

  • I don't think this will strengthen Netanyahu. People will want blood for the biggest intelligence failure since 9/11.

In fact, this is worse than 9/11, at least there it was a relatively small number of people involved. How on earth does Mossad miss thousands of armed militants, vehicles, guns, logistics and planning for an attack of this scale? The only two options are intentionally keeping this quiet or incompetence at a breathtaking scale. Neither of those two options are good for Netanyahu.

  • It's kind of incredible how both Hamas and Likud have escalated and antagonized so much that the PLO now look like the adults in the room by comparison.

  • I'm thankful that the consensus opinion here so far seems to be relatively balanced, even if there are a small minority of asshats either trying to paint Hamas' actions as justified or trying to claim Israel did nothing wrong.

I'm saying this as a secular non-Israeli Jew who wishes Likud would just leave politics entirely and let Israel have a slightly less insane government for once.

  • It is possible to both not support the behaviour of the Israeli state towards Palestinian civilians and not support the mass murder and worse of Hamas.

  • As far as I know their biggest backers are Iran. Is that not still the case? Legitimate question here.

I think "exterminating Jewish people all over the world" is hyperbolic, but their original 1988 charter does specifically call for the complete destruction of the Israeli state and the formation of Palestine via holy war. It's 100% an anti-semitic document, and debatably genocidal. An attempt to kill an ethnic group doesn't need to be world-wide to be genocidal.

Their new 2017 charter is fair bit more moderate, and calls for the 1967 borders. Whether the new document is about PR or if they've actually become more moderate is a question that is being answered by their treatment of civilians now, imho.

  • A lot of EAC games work just fine on proton now. For any game released and/or updated since September 2021 enabling EAC on proton for the devs is as easy as ticking a checkbox.

  • confidently charging in with yet another Kalam argument

I have a totally new and revolutionary argument that is absolutely not the Kalam!

    P1 - Everything has a cause

P2 - The universe isn't eternal because I say so

P3 - The universe must have had a cause

C - Therefore, the cause of the universe must be Carl Sagan attempting to bake an apple pie from scratch

    Checkmate, atheists!

  • I still think it answers the question. Namely, the way you control your borders as an EU member state is by abandoning the Schengen agreement.

  • EU countries are not automatically part of the Schengen agreement. Also, you can be part of Schengen without being in the EU.

This image shows which is which. Purple is Schengen + EU, blue is non-EU Schengen, yellow is EU but not Schengen.

Travelling from Romania to Hungary, for example, can be done with just an ID card, you don't need a passport, but there are still border guards and ID checks on anyone crossing that border.

  • I'd be in favor of this, personally. If there are now rules against the offending content and it is actively being moderated, then that's solved the issue.

  • The context is that the guy running fast (Captain America) is running so fast he's overtaken the other guy (War Machine Falcon, eventually) like 4 times. He's getting more and more frustrated with being outdone in raw athleticism.

  • My guess is that that bed is factory new. Freshly washed sheets, beds, cushions, bags, shirts, whatever seem almost like catnip to some cats, and beds like these are usually sent out freshly washed.

  • I was introduced to them via Jay Foreman's unfinished London series. If you enjoy map men, I'd heavily recommend checking that out as well.
