  • You are literally trying to justify the slaughter of Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists. Terrorists who use unguided rockets to kill Israelis (and often also Gazans) indiscriminately.

Hamas are not freedom fighters. They are genocidal terrorists who will not stop until they are eliminated or Israel ceases to exist.

  • Maybe it's just the communities that I've subscribed to. Other than memes, the next most active community is the Linux one. The rest all seem dead.

It's possible that Kbin still has federation issues and I'm simply not seeing all of the content from the communities on Lemmy instances.

  • ... which doesn't have a decent search engine and barely any content other than memes.

  • Yeah, I think it's usually the publisher pushing the release dates on the dev studio.

  • That's disappointing. Some level of unmet expectations are to be, well, expected for a sequel to such a cultural behemoth as Cities: Skylines, but it sounds like Colossal Order made some sacrifices on the release date altar. Such a shame.

  • The person he was responding to was asking for some specific clarification. Instead of offering it, he appealed to his own authority, essentially listing his credentials in a pompous way and then saying "You don't need to understand. I'm the expert, I'll understand it for you."

  • The way the guy was flexing about being an "expert", while it may or may not be true (I haven't independently verified his credentials), is extremely offputting. Refusing to engage with hecklers is a better policy than flexing with your education, credentials, and experience.

  • Star Wars has been fertile ground for writers for decades, though. For every movie or TV show there are half a dozen books. Hard to say no to that.

  • Because it's our right. I don't need to justify my speech.

  • It happened at least as far back as 1982. It certainly was used derogatorily during the genocide in Missouri in 1938.

Who ever said I left the church?

Your tone and combativeness feels very r/exmormon. In other words, you come across as a bitter disaffected former member.

  • Here's a quote from the same document:

The following are considered null and void: the Balfour Declaration, the British Mandate Document, the UN Palestine Partition Resolution, and whatever resolutions and measures that derive from them or are similar to them. The establishment of “Israel” is entirely illegal and contravenes the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and goes against their will and the will of the Ummah; it is also in violation of human rights that are guaranteed by international conventions, foremost among them is the right to self-determination.

    ...

Hamas believes that no part of the land of Palestine shall be compromised or conceded, irrespective of the causes, the circumstances and the pressures and no matter how long the occupation lasts. Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.

    Seems pretty clear to me.

  • Israel is a legitimate state. Hamas has no interest in governance and exists solely to (in its own words) "obliterate" Israel.

  • This still happens nearly every week in Sunday school.

  • Sorry, I was wrong. They want to "obliterate" the Jews, not expel them. When talking about genocide, it's important to specify the correct flavor.

Regardless, they have multiple times rejected concessions and compromises that would have enabled them to have an independent democratic nation. If that's truly what they wanted, why would they always pass on the opportunity to get it without bloodshed?

  • Due process isn't really a thing in most places. Commonwealth nations, especially, seem to grant "extraordinary powers" to their police forces.

  • Palestine has been given plenty of chances. They just choose to reject any compromise that doesn't involve the expulsion of the Jews from the Holy Land.
