  • Shipping fees for returns isn't too bad, but if it looks like a retailer isn't standing behind the products they sell them they shouldn't be surprised when shoppers shop elsewhere.

  • Extremely left, fairly toxic unless you're in a niche community. Couldn't count how many times self-described leftists from Lemmy instances told me to unalive myself.

  • I don't know where you're from, but asking about where one lives (in very general terms, such as city and state) is a common thing to do while striking up friendly conversation here in the US. Your response gives us cultural context and may reveal shared experiences.

No one who asks, "Where you from?" is asking for your street address.

  • There was a bit where you both seemed to have pasted identical responses. The other comment seems to have been deleted.

  • Not everything that is labeled organic is USDA Organic.

  • Pretty sure scratchee and TechNerdWizard42 are the same person.

  • There's this thing called bankruptcy, people do it all the time.

  • How loud is loud? Is it only loud children or children of any volume? How do you feel about loud adults?

  • There are probably plenty of areas to use that aren't as sensitive.

  • I don't really follow Donald Trump, but that doesn't surprise me.

  • There are valid concerns about building these in sensitive coastal ecosystems (such as kelp forests), but this is the first time I've heard someone suggest that whales could be endangered.

  • The problem is most people don't have the technical ability or interest in switching to Linux. Here is the solution:

    1. We, as Linux users, must be better advocates for the platform to untechnical people.
    2. We should make ourselves available to help people make the transition.
  • By that logic, the Fediverse is already irrelevant, because it has fewer features and fewer users than major corporate social media platforms.

  • Thank heavens for Incus.

  • The Fediverse isn't owned by a single entity, so it can't be simply bought out.

  • Oh, believe me, I do listen, and I learn about things that I use on a regular basis. Based on my understanding of the ActivityPub protocol, I sincerely believe that concerns about Threads are exaggerated. It's very cult-like, with talk of "pacts" and tendencies towards prophecy and a "purity" mentality.

  • I mean, there is a Disney movie called The Black Cauldron.

  • That's because it's not about public safety, it's about disarmament.
