  • Maybe?

I sent them an email to see why it's being read so frequently. Apparently they're meant to be read weekly

I saw him walking down the street and checking everybody else's though, so it doesn't seem to just be me

  • Random Q: how often do gas meter readers generally read?

They've been coming weekly to read my meter, and it just seems a little strange that they check so often, especially considering my billing period is monthly (or at least that's what they said. They actually seem to issue my bills every 26 days, which is an odd frequency but eh)

  • Definitely considering it. As well as an outdoor camera mounted on the eve as near that side gate (no good place to position my internal cameras inside that has a view of that area). I saw one that has a camera and auto floodlight, so I might get that

It was daylight though, so I don't know how effective a floodlight would be

  • Oh that's nice. Woke up to a notification from my camera. 7:13, somebody I've never seen before walked down my driveway and then down to my side gate. I don't know if they opened it and went beyond there

They look dodgy, maybe homeless, but not really robber material. Sleeves that went beyond and covered their hands, baggy half fallen down pants, and dirty shoes. Their face wasn't covered, and it doesn't look like they stole anything. Only stayed 20 secs or so

I don't necessarily think that they came to cause harm. But it still freaks me out. My side gate doesn't fully close, either, but I'm waiting on it to be fixed. Some rusted metal has pushed part of it out, so the latch can't be put into place, so I can't padlock it. But it does close somewhat if I push it enough

  • I did the meat of my work. The written questions and assessments are done now. But I've also got emails to write. Which is easy enough, I write emails all the time! But I have to read through work health and safety policies for a fictional organisation, cross reference with the irl occupational health and safety act, and then reference things in the emails. So it requires a bit more brain capacity than I currently have the space for. That's a tomorrow job

    Night peoples

  • Yep! That's the exact reason I vehemently opposed the rolling stones! I have some quite strong words about them, but I should probably not go there. Such a ridiculous lawsuit

I believe they got revenue back again in 2019 (?) which was also coincidentally the year I found out what it was called and added it to my playlist! Obvy I knew the song, just not what it was called

  • Double update: I got distracted from my schoolwork to admire how good the Bitter Sweet Symphony is. Everytime it pops up in my shuffle, I feel compelled to stop and actively listen to it

There's plenty of songs I like more, but I honestly think I would rank The Bitter Sweet Symphony as the best song of all time

(I had a chat with my teacher, she's not fussed if I'm a day late with my work, so I'm damn well going to silently sing the song damn it!)

  • Update: today has kinda been a write off, but not as much as I was anticipating, which means I've ended the day a bit happier than I started it

I did however forget that I have school work due tonight, that I haven't even started yet 😬 but in my defence, it's been the holidays, and the unit we did before isn't due for a couple of months, while this one we started in late Dec and only got 1 class on (I think) is due now. Breaks the brain a little. Legal and ethical, too, but of a bleh module

  • Yeah, I do agree. That's not really my stance, but just following the logic, it doesn't make a lot of sense

The PT argument is a whole other kettle of fish, and there'll always be a need for private cars in the society we live in, but the argument could definitely be made that if we didn't encourage adoption of EVs, or continued use of ICE vehicles, and actively disincentivised driving, more people might cycle, walk, and catch PT around

  • Honestly I just deal with it. I need an extension cord to get to my desk cause they only put power points on one side of the room, but I hate shit on the floor so I ran them on command hook things across the window and then down to a power board on my desk. Ethernet will do the same, though has to come under the door

The cat bowls are a good thought, and something I hadn't thought of! I'm thinking I might make a little cubby for them to make banishing Jason a bit easier

  • Yeah that's a good point. My house is all a single level so a non issue for me. For two or maybe 3 levels you can get away with carrying it up (it allows you to have multiple different maps and switch between them). Still a manual process though. The Richies solve that by buying multiple, but obviously impractical with multiple different uneven levels

  • I get what you're saying, but by the same logic, anything that encourages adoption of EVs (or continued use of petrol/diesel vehicles) is bad because it ultimately encourages less people to just use PT

Walking to a train station and then hopping on an electric train filled with a few hundred other people is probably the lowest CO2 way of travelling, besides pure walking cycling
