Having read that book, you may technically be correct (Inferno is hillarious, Dante was a mad lad for writing that when he did) The big guy down stairs is munching on Judas (betrayed big J), Brutus and Cassius (betrayed Caesar, did we mention Dante was very Italian). Traitors of lesser degrees are frozen under the lake at the center of Dis.
It would be poetic for a modern telling of Inferno to include 47 there, given current events, he may even be lunch.
To your first point, there is a high likelyhood that the GOP will defund the programs the Dems want to keep anyway, or they will get DOGEd after the fact.
They can not expect promises to maintain social safety nets to be kept, so why bother trying to work with the right, let them get a taste of their own obstructionist excriment.
Because your logic is flawed coming to that question. It insinuates that one is needed over the other. This is not a fair comparison because toothpaste and fluoride suppliments are purchased and flouridated tap water costs almost nothing to consumers of municipal water. All sources must be taken into account for public health programs like this.
Hiding your badges while not on work property is a physical security practice. If an attacker were to be trying to scan for RFID or NFC tags in an area they would usually only get the data from the badge, not the image/ID printed on the surface.
In this instance I think your right, it seems like its more likely doing more of that illegal DOGE shit, not some sophisticated attacker.
I did not expect this much detail on this topic. There were discussions about detergents and such in another thread. And the logic is exactly the same.
Its all marketing, the powder v liquid is a fair consumer product debate (the different formats allow for different chemistry, but by weight/price, powerd is most efficent), but the pods for dish and clothes washers are meant to be as inefficent of a storage method as possible to get you to buy more product.
The youtube channel Technology Connections has several hours of midwestern rants about how bad pods are.
We get it (and deserve it), but your preaching to the choir. The US residents of Lemmy are usually either socially active net-izens who are very aware of, and trying to act against of the shitshow unfolding in what ways they can, or fringe groups (see the tankie instances) who have been thrown off of enough mainstream platforms that they had to go make their own.
Once todays vent session is done, we should focus on keeping constructive posts visible and discussed. (Stuff individuals or small groups can do to help our firends on the other side of the pond and ideas to try and course correct shit stateside)
Trebuchets are just medieval siege artillery from the trebuch region of France, everything else are just sparkling catapults.
