We used to do just that, google was where you went to find things. Reddit was where you went to tell other people what you found.
Now you google things on Reddit to find the post where someone else put in the effort to find something. Googles base results are such SEO garbage that niche things might as well not be indexed or gasp on the second page. Reddit itself has also become unuseable with the redesigns, old.reddit/ooer was more readable than the current UI/UX.
The issue is that the market has spoken. People want cool neat things and they want them cheap. Companies were able to lower the price of major devices by including all the always-online stuff as it generated revenue after the initial purchase.
Now everything comes with smart shit wether you want it or not, and for those that dont, the product they wish to have dosent exist or is more expensive. So... the argument that the "naiveity" of the masses is making things worse is valid.
The 200-mile rule. Sushi is amazing but raw fish has to be trasnported somehow. If your eating seafood and are not within 200 miles of a body of water where it could have been caught... Probably best to pick something else.
Montana is not famous for its aquatic cusine.
And I too do the peanutbutter thing you mentioned.
2: Analog tech like that was modular, upgradeable and repairable. It also implies a sense of ownership of the vehicle, instead of the system we have now where people have less control over the things they purchase.
Im very much in this same mindset. Will happily drive my car into the ground over the next decade or so and only then start looking. Hopefully there is an electric or hybrid that meets what I would consider low standards, minimal internal displays, an outdated media console and none of that smart-device shit. And before the "you will own nothing and be happy" crowd chimes in, there are some of us who like to own our tools, and thats what a car is, a tool.
I enjoy that 6 is non-stop fight scenes, its my favorite one to watch, followed by R1 then 3. 5 is objectivly the best movie, 8 & 9 are the worst...
It absolutly is not, protest how ever you want with or without a permit from the municipality, you are responsibly for your own actions. If you delay an emergency vehicle, those lives are on your head.
When I lived in Boston this happened multiple times. The one that comes to mind was some eco-protest that linked the protesters to oil drums filled with concrete on mass pike (the main east-west highway into the city). There were emergency vehicles stuck in the jam and someone died that was on their way to the hospital. IIRC most of the protestors are still in jail for murder.
It also shields you from human error, the IRS already knows what your taxable income is (assuming your employer correctly withholds it for you). Its much less stress to file with an error in your favor than in theirs. If you own them they will hunt you to the ends of the earth and make you resolve it, but if they owe you they just send you a check and call it a day.
My odd habbit that I hope one day someone will call me out on is that I only scoop half a jar of peanut butter or any other sandwich spread from one half of the container. Ill dig and clean our the entire side of the container and then try to scoop the rest out from the bottom of the other side to leave the pristine untouched top-side of the jar as the last part of the food that is used.
This is a reference to Calvin & Hobbs, but ive been doing it for 20 years... So... Yah...
Narrator: He won't...
