  • Wait, this is getting even more interesting. Who is the kind of autistic person that is hated by other autistic people: (a) people that try to be nice about enforcing a no masterbation announcement rule or (b) people that announce they are going to go masterbate? Also, does your brother fall under a, b, or something else?

  • I've made online friends via the chat rooms for Lemmy communities, that lead to other chat rooms, an online chess buddy, and even a Minecraft server. Perhaps try engaging in some avenues to have more of a conversational style so that you can get to know other users through regular interactions and they can get to know you too. Eventually, you might find a group that you fit in well, and something might come of it.

  • He knows he is a disappointment. He just doesn't want to be confronted with that knowledge to maintain the delusion.

  • Yeah, I had that thought too. This might be a fruitless attempt lol

  • I use KDE Neon, but highly recommend Linux Mint for new users. I'm not in the computer industry, yet I have tried a lot of distros over the past ~15 years. Out of all of them, Linux Mint had the easiest setup by far. The drivers worked without difficulty, the installation was intuitive, the Timeshift app helped me undo any problems I created while tweaking the system, and https://forums.linuxmint.com/ is quite helpful. Compare this with KDE Neon, that had me using a second computer for hours to figure out how to get my specific wifi card drivers working. Now that I have had enough time to learn about Linux and troubleshooting, I prefer KDE Neon for the desktop environment, but Linux Mint really is so easy. Again, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the write up, OP!

  • Alternatively, if you want a similar experience but with the latest Plasma version and less bloat, go with KDE Neon.

  • you're disgusting

  • delicious victory 🤤

  • Same for the same reasons! If they say it's not a distro, then what do they say it is?

  • that made me laugh out loud lol

  • We can decide to never go back to our ex and also warn others if it comes up, while still moving on with our lives. However, if we're just bringing it up out of nowhere, we're still hung up on them.

  • Luckily, I don't know of anyone for certain, though I know of some medical providers that openly shared their suicidality. It was A LOT of providers, way more than most would expect. They looked like defeated remnants of previously joyful people with aspirations and hope. Many of them said that they continued to work just to pay off their loans and help their kids avoid the situation they were in.

When I quit, I left the medical system entirely. For unrelated matters, I happen to learn a lot about the patterns that abusers use on their victims, and I saw a lot of overlap with that and how the medical system I worked in treated the employees, especially the use of fear, obligation, and guilt (ie FOG). I'm convinced that healthcare managers/administrators are soulless robots without empathy that find positions of power in medical settings because they can manipulate the system, especially the providers' innate desire to care for patients and the patients' desperate medical situation and lack of knowledge. It really is troubling.

  • I was a patient that was possibly exposed to HIV due to poor sanitary procedures on equipment used for endoscopies and sigmoidoscopies by the VA in ~2004. Luckily, I didn't get infected. Also, by the time the VA caught on and notified me of the possible exposure/infection years later, I was already confident I didn't have HIV since I was getting regular tests anyway.

Still, it's scary to think that you could get infected by just going to a medical procedure. There's really nothing you can do to prevent that since all you can do is trust the system. Also, I believe that the VA informed me because they were a federal agency. Had it been a private provider, they could've covered it up to protect themselves. Makes me wonder if people have been infected by medical providers only to think it was because of something else.

  • Because he opened a second casino on the same strip, effectively competing for limited customers with his first casino, ensuring that both casinos failed. I'm serious. He really did that lol

  • Another casualty of the Cold War. RIP.
