  • That's a good point I wasn't aware of, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. Another user recommended that I set the heater to run at a low temperature in case it gets too cold, but also to run the fan regularly so that the air moves about and addresses the humidity issue.

  • did you get the thing where you could hear your eyeballs moving?

OMG yessss!! But it wasn't like I could literally hear my eyeballs moving. I wasn't a sound. It was like a feeling in my ears as if moving my eyeballs would tickle or vibrate my inner ear.

I'm happy the stabbing didn't result in much worse. Glad you're still around 🙂

  • That sucksssss. I remember feeling the zaps for a few nights and feeling entirely disconnected from reality. I couldn't tell if I was awake or in a dream. I would close my eyes and fantasize about whatever I could to pretend I was somewhere else to ride it out. Then when at work during the day, I was pretending that I wasn't exhausted from severe lack of sleep. I would have to go to the bathroom to take breaks and recover a little and convince myself everything was okay. I even asked someone I got a long with to make sure I didn't look weird or did anything stupid.

Seems like the withdrawal hit you a lot harder than me, so I can't even imagine how difficult that was to endure.

  • Great suggestions! I will definitely do them. For now, I'm guessing that I'll prolly set the central heater at ~62*F. That will make sure it kicks on when it gets too cold and will also move the air about the house. Once I try this out, I can see if I'd like it to be set at a different temperature.

  • I agree that burning oil would be a terrible idea. In this case, the oil would be in an enclosed radiator that is designed to function as an indoor heater. Thanks for looking out tho!

  • It might freeze once per year...maybe. My area is surrounded by trees, so I think wind hitting the house is negligible.

  • What's up with some people worried that others think they're gay? If anyone wants to think I'm gay, go for it. Think whatever you want. I don't get it.

  • I get that they work and are quite helpful to many people, but I will never take another SSRI in my life again. I hate them things. They make me feel dead. It's like tricking my mind into pretending everything is okay and jolly by becoming stupid and unaware to the reality of the overall situation. If I feel depressed, it's for a reason, and the solution is to address that reason, not pretend it doesn't exist or it's fine. It's like if you are in a situation where your leg is broken and can't heal, would you rather take an opiate to numb the pain or change the situation so your leg can heal? I guess my issue wasn't necessarily a serotonin imbalance 🤷

  • I've been having my morning coffee outside every morning, and that's been helpful. I take it as it telling my body it's day time.

Waking up at the same time everyday even if i go to sleep late.

I set an alarm for 1 hr before I wake up to take my meds. When I wake up, I'm ready to go rather than drag butt around the entire house until I feel awake.

If you can find an avenue, check in with someone every morning to tell them how you feel. It can be as simple as a word or longer. This makes you notice so you can adjust as necessary. It also may help you feel bonded or at least less alone.

Daily walks at night when the world has stopped, no one is outside, it's quiet and dark. I put on headphones and take my dog. I can walk and look as ridiculous as I want and be free from everyone's opinions and judgments.

Make sure you do at least 1 productive thing towards a long-term goal per day, even if it's super simple. I have a few long-term goals broken down into lists, so I go through them and pick at least one thing to check off. I usually go with ones I feel like doing that day.

Edit: Do something artistic/creative at least once/week. No boundaries, no goals, no intent. Just go with how you feel and see what comes out.

  • Why does that happen? Is the pipe to the bathroom wider than the kitchen sink?

  • Yep! When I want to shower, I run the hot water in the sink at the same time. It speeds it up by almost half.

  • Cool! I'm good with the way it is now since I'm used to it. It's not a big deal. I know it wasn't for me specifically, but I appreciate the recommendation.

  • !autismplace@lemmy.autism.place is the main community of an instance for all individuals that have an interest in autism. It's founded on the principle of neurodiversity using social perspective of disability. As such, it is designed to be a welcoming space for all and specifically accommodate the needs of autistic individuals so that they can contribute, socialize, and flourish. It's still a relatively new instance that is aimed at a small portion of the population, so content is currently limited, but it continues to grow. I believe that once it hits a certain threshold, it will take off. The most popular community on the instance rn is !ausomememes@lemmy.autism.place. If autism is something you are interested in, I hope to see you there!

  • @gsfraley@lemmy.world is arguing practical impact. You're arguing intent. You will never agree to anything if you continue to keep discussing different topics disguised as the same.

  • I like af when added after an adjective to increase the magnitude. Something could be sus, which means something is suspicious. Or, it could be sus af, which means that thing is super suspicious and almost certainly has something going on. Why yes, I have been playing Among Us. Red sus af.
