  • Security: if they leave checksums on their website I don’t see how it’s any more secure

Up to date: I definitely haven’t had this experience. Multiple times on arch I had issues where an outdated repo caused an app to not be able to boot

Convenience: That’s subjective. I’ve never really seen much convenience from an all in one solution for anything. I find it more of a hassle to find the distro specific manager that has a terrible UI rather than just downloading directly off a web page

  • I still don’t get the love for package managers.

As a windows and Mac user who has tried to use Linux multiple times I can’t stand the centralized managers. They never have what I need and then it ends up out of date and not working.

Is there some hidden benefit I’m missing? Because sourcing from the developer seems like the much better way to do it like Mac and Windows.

  • Yet everyone else took essentially the same line. There was significantly less grip than everyone expected and most everyone missed the corner. Alonso sent it down the inside and looped it on his own, and that’s something that rarely happens.

It wasn’t repeated at all during the race, so I’m going to err on the side of it being a mistake (which even the best make) rather than a deliberate move to push Charles (who he regularly races very cleanly) wide

  • I saw multiple people on the other website who had bought single day tickets since it was all they can afford, then saw 8 minutes of running cars, followed by hours in the cold, only to be kicked out before the second session even began.

F1 has to do refunds for Friday tickets at this point.

  • Nope, and while that’s a fine choice to make, it still leaves me pretty much alone for the remainder of my life.

I don’t like making friends, nor am I good at it, and whenever I do manage to make one it fades away extremely fast no matter the effort I put in. Which makes it very clear it’s a me problem, so I just stopped trying.

  • I did for a while. It never eased the existential dread of existing another day, so I eventually stopped once my therapist and I agreed that I could be a functioning member of society.

Talking about things doesn’t really do much for me. I’m extremely self-aware of why I am the way that I am, and it’s something I’ve come to peace with. I’m not necessarily unhappy, just content with living a very, very uneventful and short life.

  • Ignore all media, vote for whoever the democratic candidate is.

I realized that all the election media just makes me angry, and I already know who I’m NOT voting for, so there’s really only one choice anyways.

  • So I’ll be honest and say I have no want to prolong my life any longer than I absolutely have to. I have a myriad of mental issues, no plans to start or have a family and in general very little want to live another 50ish years.

I think that’s not uncommon in a lot of men either. There’s very little incentive to make it that long anymore. I’ll be working till the day I die and some poor choices in my life up to this point have put a significant damper on what’s left.

  • If we’re policing speech that much like they did in the old subreddit I’ll likely just no longer engage with the community.

There are absolutely assholes who constantly mock anything American, and I’m going to continue to call them assholes for it. Every Reddit thread is full of them.

  • That’s literally their MO. Fuck everything up while the Democrats are in power, blame them for all of it and promise it’ll be “better” under a Republifacist government.

They did it to Obama, they did it to Clinton and they’ve done it to every other Dem president for the last 30-40 years
