  • Lazy exists. I am a fully capable person, but some times I just don't want to get up off the couch and wash the dishes, or finish painting the wall trim. Its not that I am sad, tired or depressed, it's just I'd rather be doing something else or nothing else.

  • Its a top down progression logic of conditional statements if this then this, it doesn't work backwards. As I mentioned elsewhere it is not a Venn diagram meme where bottom statement is the only way you could be lonely.

  • A good friend of mine and I were open enough to hug and say "I love you man" to each other, even at work. The engineering staff sort of tolerates us but thought we were weird for showing feelings, the shop floor staff immediately started with the gay rumour.

  • In 2013/14 my common law gf applied for life insurance on herself, she was a teacher. The insurance company didn't want to insure her without me cosigning in case she ever lost her job and couldn't pay the premimums. Like wtf. A) its not 1950s, B) if you can't pay you lose the insurance anyway, so no risk to them.

  • For ssh they both have private and public keys. The server could be at risk of having it's own private key compromised if somebody breaks in, and vice versa a compromised client can lose its private key. The original wording made it sound like a compromised server would steal client keys.

    Also passworded keys are recommended

  • The other dude just being lonely would realize that he didn't think women just did dishes, and hasn't turned all his hate of women inward. Some people are lonely and have a functioning logic system. Not to say everyone, there are always people susceptible to radicalization.

  • Yeah same kind of experience, on Windows 10 her laptop would barely run, it lagged so badly because it is a 2 core Celeron. On Linux it is actually peppy and she can run her zoom meetings and excel stuff, plus browsing. It is comparable speed to my new work laptop with 20 core processor running W11...that's how bad WindowsOS has become

  • Its a logic flow diagram, the first three are flawed logic , so the fourth is the wrong as the reasoning. But maybe I have been doing too many conditional and boolean statements in my software

    • Walk around town with a pellet gun
    • walk home from school alone
    • catch fish from the creek and eat them, after cooking on a fire in the field-- started with a magnifying glass.
    • build a tree fort in the forest 20-30 feet up
    • walk on the barely frozen creek
    • read books
  • Craigslist--> Forsale--> Free section. Sometimes it is junk posted, but often there are great things people just want to give away knowing it will go to good use. We have given and received from there.

  • My home computers and servers are all Linux since 2017, even my work Laptop was because the CAD/CAM software had a Linux version. I have been running W11 for work lately and it is such a terrible user experience. I will be mid productivity mode and the Office Ai.exe kicks and and reduces my brand new machine down to a crawl speed. It happened way too many times and it does nothing to improve what I'm working on. I tried deleting the ai.exe and aimgr.exe, but those get reinstalled after an update, so now I have made two empty text files and renamed them to match the two files, this (so far ) has tricked MS into not reinstalling those files.

But there are so many other janky bullshit things that W11 does that I can't believe a company the size of MS can release this stuff

  • This has not been my experience. I'm not on Ubuntu, but OpenSUSE and NixOS. Everything works and operates as expected everytime. The only issue once was nvidia driver updated versions before kernel did and I had to reboot to a previous snapshot and wait a few days till the kernel update was released to work with whatever happened to the driver. But 8 years of a dependable system otherwise

  • I don't see it that way, to me it is showing how a certain type of man becomes lonely. The other type would be 1. small social circle (real or interwebs) 2. Lonely. And no face painting, because he's not a clown, he just hasn't met a match
