As always, there's multiple reasons for things. You did a great job breaking down as much as possible :) the other comments are all right, but you are comprehensive :)

I'm not sure what you mean exactly... Just looked in my block list and I've blocked yiffit.net and like 6 or so anime communities, and I don't remember the last time I had anime in my all feed.

Some living situations have time-consuming storage places of bikes, like I can imagine some apartment building with cellars for bikes or shit like that.

But locking your bike at the target place? Takes seconds. Also, I'm relatively sure for most people, retrieving the bike also takes at most a minute.

Now look at the graph. Shift the bike 1.5 minutes upwards, you still get almost exactly the same effect, the bike is still faster for a lot of the 1 mile of walking.

So sure, it's important to take into account the switching costs, but this concept still holds true most of the time.

As corollary to the other comments, lemmyverse.net to find non-political communities to subscribe to.

You may be about to figure out that almost everything is controlled by the richest people on Earth, and that you are allowed to talk about that is bad for them.

Hope you don't use (almost) any other messaging app either. If a single unsubstantiated article is enough to make you stop using something, you should be using almost nothing anywhere.

It depends on the server you use. Some even don't allow uploads at all.

Which is what I acknowledged with my last sentence. All I'm saying is that both methods could be worthwhile, and in a perfect world where everyone is educated, everyone ignoring the scammer would be better.

Most things you can do with your money are unethical, i.e. support a bad system that unnecessarily hurts people.

As far as that goes though, imo visiting the DPRK is a relatively bad one. I don't see the benefit for yourself, you get to see a tour of exactly what they want you to see, nothing real will ever be experienced. You put yourself in massive danger, tourists there have been detained and killed. All the money you spend goes directly to support the authoritarian government, which only seems to care about giving themselves a life of luxury and their people barely enough so they can maintain their luxury.

You do get a view of an authoritarian regime working firsthand, which is a positive, but I just feel like it's already good/bad enough to know about it than having experienced it yourself.

So yeah, imo massive amount of reasons against, almost none for.

And theoretically, if there would be the same amount of scammers as decent people, everyone would have to waste all their time with your strategy, but with my strategy none of the decent people would waste time.

So much talk about duplicate communities, which is just so weird to me, seeing as reddit also constantly has duplicate communities despite being centralized :D which one the main one is also sometimes changes based on events/drama

It's relatively easily possible to emulate android on your PC. Install "android studio", which then allows you to create android virtual devices. However, I don't know how to get custom system images on there, this could be more work, which you'll have to find out yourself.
