  • You can always subtly rephrase it to make the joke in person. The first sentence of the following can actually be pretty broad.

    W: "I saw a fox on my way to work!"

    H: "Sorry, I didn't quite catch that. You saw a fox on the way to work?"

    W: "Yes!"

    H: "How did you know it was on its way to work?"

  • Every post and comment has a link, but with a couple caveats.

    1. Each link is unique to your home instance. Anybody else from a different instance using your link will be redirected to your instance, unless they're using a UI or app that supports it.
    2. How you obtain the link depends on how you're viewing lemmy. There should definitely be a method regardless, but you'll have to specify your app and maybe ask in the relevant comm.

  • Bows take years to learn and a lifetime to master. Crossbows were a military revolution simply because they were easy to learn. In that sense, crossbows and firearms are very similar, but depending on your range you've got more dropoff in accuracy with xbows due to gravity.

  • Wrong. Every pedo in prison is one WHO HAS ALREADY ABUSED A CHILD, whether directly or indirectly. There is an argument to be made, and some studies that show, that dealing with Minor Attracted People before they cross the line can be effective. Unfortunately, to do this we need to be able to have a logical and civil conversation about the topic, and the current political climate does not allow for that conversation to be had. The consequence is that preventable crimes are not being prevented, and more children are suffering for it in the long run.
