  • Force Touch was awesome!

Poor awareness among users and adoption among developers led to its demise. I never really figured which apps had support for Force Touch until I tried using it.

It’s replacement - the long press - just doesn’t fill the shoes of its predecessor w.r.t. UX. But I guess it achieves the same result.

  • Seems like you are having a hard time comprehending what is actually said in the post. Perhaps a bit more of context may help. Apologies if these weren’t readily apparent in the post.

Seeking a video using the scrubber has always worked, but swiping on a video to seek hasn’t.

Long press always worked while interacting with system UI (and not app UI), but selecting an entry within the long press menu without lifting the finger hasn’t.

I understand that software evolves and regressions are inevitable. That is why I have pressed a bit on submitting feedback and bug reports as it makes the job of the developers easier.

As for your last paragraph, I fail to see how you reached to that conclusion as these are UX are Apple introduced and regressed upon, so I am going to ignore it.

  • Thank you for sharing the article. I stand corrected, and shall reflect this in my post.

Also, upon going through one of the sources from the article you shared, I found a quote by Craig Federighi on the change

there’s no need to double tap and no magnifying glass getting in your way

    Yikes!

  • Another Safari regression is the inability to scroll over video elements. Which really breaks the Voyager experience

I have noticed this as well. I didn’t realise this was an OS issue. I assumed this was because I am using the TestFlight version of Voyager.

  • Ah, the share suggestions never really worked for me.

I know the OS tries to intelligently identify with whom I want to share an item, based on the type of item, recency of conversation, etc. “tries” being the operative term.

The OS does not even honour the app order I manually set under “More” in the share sheet. I remember filing a feedback for this specific behaviour long back.

  • This meme is from an older time when all of this was true.

For all the people here commenting here about macOS updates being free forever, I guess they haven’t really used the OS long enough.

Should the meme be updated before it is eventually reposted? Yes. But should it misinform people? No.

  • May I know what game is being discussed in this post? The game screen within the post is too pixelated to make out what is being shown

I went through the entirety of the comments, and still don’t know what the game is.

  • I'm already about to ditch Voyager for putting emoji's on my app interface.

Is this about the new account highlightenator thingy that shows a 👶 next to new accounts?

If so, it is actually a good QoL feature, and it can be disabled under Settings -> General.

  • Is there a collection of these trolley problem memes? Or an active community on lemmy where these are shared?

I would like to see all the variations that can come out of this. I have already seen a few on lemmy.

  • Thanks for the picture. This looks sick!

Apart from the versatility of the device itself, I feel a lot of this is enabled by remote apps, containers and systems which improved by a lot due to the pandemic. :-)

Also, nice to see you mention CalDigit. I plan on using CalDigit TS4 with the deck to connect it with my desk setup. I have to dig a bit on the support/compatibility.

  • Thanks for the pointer. It looks like the community is not active. I too plan to install it in the spirit of experimentation and not daily drive it.

E: Voyager is bugging out and showing just one post In that community.

  • Apologies for going off topic, but is there an active community around Ubuntu Touch and similar OSes for phones? I have an old phone that is “fully optimised” as per the UBPorts website, and want to ask a few questions before I take the plunge.

Also, what phone have you installed the OS on?
