I have tried Softmaker Office and unfortunately its font rendering/kerning is the worst, (printing unaffected). MS Word, LibreOffice are running around it in circles. I assume a high DPI display would minimize these woes in the future. I worked around it by using Roboto at 11 pt, makes it bearable. But aside from that it checks all the marks for an Office program. I wonder how far its spreadsheet program will take me. Cannot imagine it coming anywhere close to Excel for highly advanced usage.
Missing half the UI on resize is not something to get used, neither is the bad performance. Also the non-scaling ribbon titles are just a UI error. There is little debate to have.
Windows Update does the system in the background. Microsoft distributes their apps through Windows Store and so can third parties sign up there in principle, it has restrictions unfortunately, but to say there is absolutely nothing is not quite correct. And by this point so many apps have their own integrated updaters it is to be expected. I understand it is nothing like Linux still.
There is a package management in the OS called Windows Store, but LibreOffice charges money for it. Since it is such a popular software with likely some security exploits I don't think it is very responsible to avoid this topic for so long.
I updated my post that it is indeed the renderer behaving badly. Your experience with the crashes makes sense, if something as basic as the renderer is all over the place. Thanks for the warning, will definitely avoid LibreOffice, even if it has the feature set I am looking for. Shame most paid software is subscription only which I do not condone.
I feel your pain. I have rare disorders which affect my executive functioning, so simple tasks are insurmountable at times for me while my intellectual ability is unaffected and likely above average. Which leads to two things: I rarely get help making appointments and what to do and just "do it yourself" without guidance and get kicked out. And the other one is that I could not be possibly correct interpreting the test results, because how could I have the ability without being an official researcher to research things. I am deeply frustrated, the more tests I run and see my thesis is correct, the more push back by doctors it is more likely to have randomly a dozen conditions instead of a single one uniting them. These things are ableist. We are reaching the point where AI can solve these much more reliably than a human. As a result the difficulty has to rise and will exclude more and more people which might have problems with "basic" tasks from a neurotypical perspective. Not to speak sometimes there might be multiple solutions depending on language and cultural interpretations.
I feel frustrated by the driving physics. I cannot place the car where I want it to, while funny and entertaining they get launched easily into the air, and understeering is less fun than its counterpart. The cars do have weight, but the soft suspension is on a silly level.
Removing audio from bought games is theft as did Rockstar, recently Sony and other streaming servicesNot selling or including it for future customers is a license issue, but you should actually "own" the files tied to the account.
I tried to make GTA 4 work on my machine and it was a major issue: FusionFix, DXVK with additional parameters like Vsync lock as per PCGamingWiki, Steam Overlay enabling due to slowdown after a minute, commandline.txt with resolution, FusionFix tweak for cutscene FPS limit and tweaking slightly some settings in-game and still there are poorly explainable drops. But at least most of the game is viewable at 60 fps with much higher fidelity. Nothing to the 20 fps VHS cassette resolution of the original console release.
Technically the handling is unrealistically boaty, but it had more fine details to it. Need for Speed Heat managed to pull off sn impressive pseudo realistic arcade physics thing. It makes sense with quite some depth, but is also not realistic. Perhaps there is for GTA a similar middle between soft boat suspension and a train track.
I believe this statement partially, because the lighting of the car headlight cone was the same bad one as we know from GTA IV. That must be in-engine if not actual in-game. What I am worried about is whether the game engine will feature more advanced physics and cop chases. As a result while GTA 5 was the better game, I think the free roaming experience suffered a lot from GTA IV, where the physics gave the world more dynamic opportunities. At the time it was probably done to optimize the abysmal performance.
GTA V's single player content support was immediately cut when they found how much money their MMO style game makes by F2P monetization.
We will see the same terrible business tactics: Delay PC release so much that people buy the console versions, the PC release will be superior thanks to the then progressed technical advancements and the mod support to double dip, and then triple dip, because new content will be online only with MTX, if they don't abolish single player from the get go.
Pirates are the librarians of the new age. But I caution you, much media cannot be found as soon as you step of the path of the big releases. So it really isn't the final solution.
I would not say it is as broadly self defined and I tried to give specific reasons. Elden Ring itself at its very core is about the core difficulty and yet I had way too many deaths caused by jank (the difference on how much better my experience with the same bosses in a cleaner arena speaks volumes, or the terrible twin fights) , not just some side nitpicking on minor mechanics. And so many reviews giving it excellence and yet there is apparently quite a bunch of people rating it below many of their other titles as at the last part of the game the problems pile up to an even worse degree.
I do enjoy it for most of the other aspects and I understand and agree what it is why people rave about it so much , but I would have loved to see scaled down boss damage, especially combos and twin fights to bridge the fun-defying issues, although a different design philosophy would be the better solution.
I assume the flat panels have an aerodynamic effect like the underbody of race cars. They ultimately create forces sucking the surface into a direction. And since on the sides it will be never stable it will flap around all the time. Here is a lot of wobbling and while the vertical changes are intended, the horizontal ones surely aren't and they tried to make it as stiff as possible. Certainly nothing a production car would achieve.

Skellige Island and the two expansions were actually great. Blood & Wine had an amazing flow. Otherwise I agree. It was a rehash of The Witcher 1, but not as charming.
Unpopular opinion: Many hyped up games fail immensely at some parts. But due to the social group effect criticism gets drowned out. Currently playing Elden Ring and while it makes a massively great impression all around it shows really bad game design cracks after more intense looking, especially in the boss and arena encounter design as if they were inexperienced. Cluttered, glitchy arenas impeding gameplay, just annoyingly specific roll tells, bad hitbox choices and the requirement to memorize full boss combo routes like a multiplayer fighter add to that 1-2 kill combos and it is terrible at times to me not we the effort. I am at Leyndell with almost all available side content/areas done. Waiting for the obligatory git gud chads storming in.
