  • Reform, and if they continue to pose a risk for society keep them in a prison/psychiatric ward until they die or are reformed.

Look at how Norway handles Breivik for example. That guy is a proper monster. But he still gets treated according to human rights, cause he is still human. We as a society should be better and more rational than the monsters that we condemn.

  • Usually I’d agree with you, but Snyder said in interviews that there weren’t any demands from the studio for cuts. He just wants to make an R rated version and Netflix likes the publicity from having a Snyder cut. It worked for DC, so they use it as an advertisement to generate buzz around the movie.

  • Why is this downvoted so heavily? The article is pointing out some valid issues.

One point I wish they would talk about tho is that a lot of this patriarchal sentiment stems from the fact that about 80% of Italians are Catholics. It’s gotten better but the church is still propagating a lot of these conservative ideas on women’s issues.

  • Thanks for the answer, definitely is an interesting perspective! I’ll look more into the masks. And I wholeheartedly agree on the part about reactionaries using these kind of strategies. Something just throws me off about the weird folksy way we see a lot of these guys… be it Daddy Elon or Uncle Bill or Cowboy Jeff, framing them as quirky characters in the reality tv show that is our news media distracts from the real issues that each of those guys represent.

  • Can you give me a summary why character masks make this cutesy billionaire shit ok?

I’m not confident enough in my knowledge about Marx‘s ideas to be arguing about that.

I think I got a grasp on the basics, capitalism creates societal positions like owners and workers, and Bill slipped into the mask of an owner.

But to me that does not mean that humanizing the billionaire class is a good thing. I’d rather say it makes it a worse thing, as it takes away incentives for lower classes to change the system and get rid of the owner class. How do we get anywhere close to equality if people see good ole Bill and Daddy Elon, instead of the ruthless oligarchs that they are?

But like I said, I don’t have a good grasp on this theory so would be happy to be corrected/have it explained to me ;)

  • Such a nice little stoner billionaire /s.

Don’t humanize these assholes. It’s the reason why he says stuff like this. He’s a wealth hoarding bastard that fucked a lot of people over to get where he’s at. If he thought it was a good idea he could easily just start a big trial somewhere. But he doesn’t. Instead he sits on his mountain of money and says cute shit for idiots to drool over instead of taxing him.

  • A stakeholder is something different than a stockholder. A stakeholder could be an employee, investor, customer, someone selling equipment to them or even the community they work in.

Basically anyone who’s affected by their actions.

  • Guess under those circumstances a health tracker might be a useful thing. I’m not a huge fan of quantifying that kinda stuff, but getting a heads up for problems would be nice. Don’t give me any shit like a sleep score or whatever, just beep me if my heart is beating irregularly or something else is wrong.

But as the other guy said, I’m too much of a pessimist to believe in a gadget like that ever existing ;) There’s always gonna be data mining and companies bombarding you with bullshit and ads.

  • I already hate that I have to have my phone with me at all times (cause of work and family that wants me to be available). Definitely don’t want to wear another thing tracking me, distracting me and spamming notifications.

If I had to switch my phone to a wearable the best would probably be an earpiece that reads text for me, if needed.

Glasses and wristbands are a privacy nightmare and I can’t wait for people to get AR ads with their shiny new glasses.

  • Mate, it’s a little too easy to just blame foreign agents and idiots for all this mess. The radicalization process of the GOP has been going on for decades, the social divide has been widening and the US media is doing its part to stir the pot. Sure, Russian trolls played a part in whipping up the frenzy, but the main problem is a home made one, of unchecked capitalism without any regard for whom it might hurt. Without it, trolls wouldn’t have anything to feed on. Happy, well educated people don’t fall for that shit.

US have been living on a policy of fuck you, got mine for decades. It’s a political, cultural and economical problem and it wasn’t invented by foreign agents, it’s home made. People are desperate, uneducated and feeling disenfranchised. If you present them an easy answer and act like you hear their problems, they’re gonna love you for it. A president like Trump was just a matter of when, not if. Blaming stupid people and foreigners won’t fix shit.

Also, it’s quite ironic that you have so many spelling mistakes, in a paragraph making fun of people for not being able to spell empathy…
