The investment costs more than you’d get back.

It’s a public service, what you get for your investment is the health of the public not lining for your pockets. If the only incentive in stopping fraud is profit then we’re fucked since it’s more profitable to perpetuate the fraud than to end it.

It isn’t the recipients of the free lunch that make bank, it’s the ones that are given a contract, subsidy or grant to provide them that do. All you have to do is be willing to provide a substandard service and any costs that are saved can be folded back into private hands.

Experts on defrauding public services offer insight that public services are easily defrauded but are mum on any solutions that would make it harder to defraud public services. The math maths.

What absolutely gobsmacking value must an unaltered human being possess that tremendous amounts of resources are allocated all over the world to stop people from changing who or what they are?

It’s your body you should be able to choose what to do with it. If in 30 or 40 years we come to find out that it causes irreparable damage and shortened lifespan. It’s earned. If that time until an untimely death is the best life lived then that was well earned too. I’m willing to bet it will be worth it to someone who so desires it. But it should be every individuals choice to do so, and do so freely.

This problem will only continue to compound as medical technology advances. People changing gender identity or their sex is only the tip of the iceberg, given the chance someone out there will try change something about themselves that asks the question of whether or not they are still human. Maybe not in my lifetime but someone born today might have to face such a problem. Based on the lessons we will hand down, well you can plainly see about how that is likely to go down.

We already know who cares so much that people conform to gender norms, are deprived access to reproductive healthcare and autonomy, and also forced to do so in abject poverty. The burning question is why? What ends justify these means?

Seriously, someone make it make sense. What math do I need to learn to be able to understand why you are not able to do as you please with your own life and body? How does anyone else still have a say what is or isn’t in your pants and how is it to their benefit?

It’s an irony then for how much value is placed on genitalia that the rest of the person is only worth at most whatever minimum wage is the standard in your area or occupation.

Whether or not lactose intolerance is a disability or not push back on this is pushback on all special orders getting a premium price across the board. No one with a disability should have to pay extra for standard access.

There won’t be a single catch all solution but if we can make it the goal to spread the use and disposal of any harmful byproducts then you’re turning one problem into the solution for many other issues.

One couldn’t dream up a best case scenario. If it wasn’t for the fact that it has to generate a profit and not take away from profit streams currently in place, we’d be living in a far better civilization.

French press is covered pretty well by everyone else so I’m here to offer an alternative. Have you considered a moka pot? Cheap, intuitive and offers bold flavor. Thing is you could take your regular coffee prepare it 3 different ways and end up with distinct flavor profiles. It all boils down to what you are looking for when drinking coffee.

Quick rundown on cold brew, soak your grounds over night, filter, add cream, milk and other flavorings and you have coffeehouse cold drink on demand.

I’m definitely coming off as a fatalist and alarmist but I firmly believe there is a path forward that includes all of us. Just the cost will be severe and unexpected, I hope we’re ready. And while my natural inclination is that of least resistance and less pain, I hope it is achievable within our generations. Let us bear the brunt of braving a new world that our children and their children’s children know better lives than we do.

Here’s the post I saw that inspired my own.

If I had a nickel for every time someone unwittingly became the face of something humorous we can all relate to, well I’d at least have a nickel more than what this job presumably paid her.

In all seriousness thank you for taking the time for a moral obligation. All things should be tempered and while humor is a great tool to distort the truth it should never completely obstruct it.

At the very least, here’s to trying to draw attention to your comment.

Capitalism is mass produced feudalism distilled in just enough high fructose corn syrup to sell the lie to the people that if you work hard enough and pull up your straps all the way, one day you will be the one pulling the strings and not licking boots. The problem isn’t in facing this stark reality, it’s in having enough imagination to see what could lay beyond the comforting pain of what you are used to and the devil you don’t know.

People are not ready for a complete societal overhaul, I am not ready for it either but we’re speeding along to a future where people will know the bitter taste of their neighbor’s flesh in the name of survival. I hope to be spared such knowledge and for other good people to be too but here we are, entire populations around the world are about die of thirst and we’ve let people (because corpos are people as legally defined for the purposes of money in some places and might as well drop the facade in others) bottle and sell it as a commodity and a premium at that.

For those still reading and capable of abstract thought: imagine you were an entity composed of gas and you discovered a species composed of up to 60% water willingly slave away for clean access. Insanity.

Stranger than fiction though, we can all start boiling our tap water to reduce up to 90% of microplastics (phys.org). Seems like the cosmic jokes on us. Good thing I guess that we’re boiling our planet alive, that way the ultra rich doomsday-prepped assholes who have allowed this design to come to fruition will have everything they want after the manufactured cataclysm wipes the rest of us out.
