  • I wrote a big comment about this and deleted it. But I agree. Nothing will change without either a) different SCOTUS. or b) dramatic change in public opinion in rural states. I really think it would take an Amendment, which requires not just a majority in Congress, but a persistent majority of the population in a super-majority of states.

  • I mean... dry from... water. And often enough that I have many bags of silica packets that I reuse. Obviously.

edit: I spend a lot of time outdoors. My gear tends to suffer if I use it and then don't dry it before I put it away. I dont enjoy taking out some gear to use only to find it corroded or molded. Silica helps that. And for my needs, it is cheaper to reuse silica packs than it is to buy and run a(nother) dehumidifier.

  • I don't torrent much, but my NZB and torrent clients both get throttled on a schedule. I have no need for my automations to go fast or fill up my NAS overnight (slight hyperbole but I do often get 50MB/sec on well-hosted downloads, which is not sustainable in terms of storage cost.)

I pause during the day for work, low throttle (500KB/s) during non-work hours in morning and evening, and at night once we're asleep a moderate cap (5MB/sec. ) I also have some mild traffic shaping QoS on the router so the kids streaming won't affect my Zoom meetings, for example.

Things added manually go straight to the top of the queue, and sometimes I'll un-throttle for a particular download that I'm waiting for.

  • Changing the TOS won't change the license for things the person posting it don't own in the first place.

If I go to reddit and post the lyrics to the latest Taylor Swift single, does reddit (and thus google) now own the rights to her song?

  • Unfortunately, some lemmy apps will hide the whole thread if a blocked user even comments on it. My favorite app does this, so if i want to block bigots, I am left with either missing features or missing large amounts of content.
